hermans Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Guys! Guys! I asked what gas costs in CANADA... not the USofA. Sheesh! :)I very recently paid $4.04 a gallon in Niagara Falls, Canada. I figured out the ltrs v gallons and figured the per gallon price. Love that VAT.... not. I bet it will be coming to the USA soon. 1 GrySql reacted to this
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted June 17, 2014 I actually like the VAT idea if they get rid of our income tax. Pay tax on what we spend only and make everyone pay it no matter what unless its an item for resale. Less paperwork and problems for businesses, no more IRS audits or employees to pay, lower rate than what we pay now because everyone is paying and not just the honest people. That is if its a reasonable rate.

machoman1337 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) I have a copy of the Canadian goodwill payments. A summary: A purchased FFH is $925, leased is $600A purchased MKZ is $1800, leased is $1200A purchased CMAX is $725, leased is $475 Payments will be mailed out between 5 and 15 weeks from today and be mailed directly to the customer. Cars on order can be cancelled if requested with a full refund on the deposit. There are aprox. 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. and 13,000 in Canada. Current and previous owners will get the payment. CMAX owners, it says, already received $895 last August, they will receive an additional $725, for a total of $1620 MKZ owners will receive a separate gift. I got my FFH used but from a Ford dealer. Will I qualify for this payment? Also, the Canadian figure was ridiculous - 4.0 L/100 km which is 59 MPG! We deserve bigger goodwill checks :P Btw I confirmed the Canadian payment here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/canadian-fuel-consumption-label-ratings-and-goodwill-payments/article19143913/ Guys! Guys! I asked what gas costs in CANADA... not the USofA. Sheesh! :) About $1.50/litre in Vancouver. When I left Toronto it was just below $1.30, probably above that now. In the fall it usually dips to the mid-$1.20s max in Toronto (sometimes less if I'm lucky), and in Vancouver the high $1.20s is as low as it gets during the year. I remember back in Ottawa I had a few lucky days where I pumped for only $1.10-$1.15/litre. Thankfully, I have a Nexus card and the border is only half an hour away from where I live. I just filled up my dad's Lexus down in WA for $4/gallon (premium) - Americans scream at that kind of pricing but for me it's ridiculously cheap  If what gas buddy says is right for cost... I'd be riding a bicycle if I lived in Canada.. If it makes it look any better, Europeans and some Asians would find our gas prices to be ridiculously low ;) I was in Europe just a month ago and the cost of diesel... well, just take the Canadian price, convert it to euros or pounds at a 1:1 exchange rate, and you get what I mean. corncobs Report post Posted June 18, 2014 Thanks for the info macho. That clears up the mystery. :) Although, the new question is... 59 mpg? What was Ford thinking!!?? ;)Different rating procedure and it's again different in Europe. Where if IRC the rating came out to 44 or 45 MPG.
machoman1337 Report post Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) Just emailed the Toronto dealership where I bought the car to ask if I qualify for $925 as a preowned customer. Fingers crossed... Edit: The guy from the Toronto dealership replied to say this: I believe Ford is dealing with each customer on an individual basis. Ford knows that you have purchased a Fusion Hybrid and will be contacting you in regards to the "mileage goodwill" payment. Does this mean Ford will track all owners based on state/province vehicle registrations? I sure hope they aren't going to send the checks yet, because my car still has Ontario plates on it and is thus registered to an apartment I no longer live at :O Guess I have to register my car first thing tomorrow once I pick it up from the shipping company... Edit: Finally clarified: Yes, it is tracked by VIN#. Please register your Fusion as soon as possible. Anyone here who is moving or has just moved but hasn't updated car registration - take note of this ;) Edited June 18, 2014 by machoman1337 2 hybridbear and corncobs reacted to this
ceilidhdog Report post Posted June 19, 2014 I'm driving at a mile high, and according to Fuelly I'm getting 47.3 mpg. But I'll be happy to cash Ford's check. And... I still love my FFH. 4 GrySql, hybridbear, corncobs and 1 other reacted to this
GrayStrider Report post Posted June 19, 2014 $775 for us. A nice gesture on Ford's part for admitting that their figures were off. Although our lifetime mileage is below the newly adjusted figures (37.655 mpg average for almost 19 months of ownership), we're still very happy with the numbers (20 mpg higher than our last vehicle got). Our lower average is not the car, but the drivers. Learning to manually turn off the A/C condenser when the A/C was off has helped our numbers a little, and when I drive it, our numbers get a little better as well. If I had it to do all over again, I'd without a doubt make the same purchase. Love the car!! 6 GrySql, jeff_h, B25Nut and 3 others reacted to this
machoman1337 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Called Ford Canada today and was able to change my registered address without actually registering my car first (that will be done tomorrow). They plan to mail the checks in 3 weeks and promise no more than 3 months. $925 assured!
