Jmagg73 Report post Posted May 21, 2014 I'm getting a rattle on the passenger side of the Fusion Hybrid when hitting speeds above 60mph. Becomes louder the faster i drive. On very windy days I also hear a flapping noise at those speeds. Has anyone else experienced this? Im reluctant to take it back in since Its already been there for a rattle between the drivers front and rear door. They took over a week to fix that 6 months ago and whatever they did has come undone and it is back too. It was a real headache.
SteveB_TX Report post Posted May 21, 2014 Check your underbody aero pieces. One may be loose and flopping around at speed.
Easy Rider Report post Posted May 22, 2014 Well that's a pretty sad story about not-so-good service. But if they gave you a loaner during that time like they should have.......was it really that big of a problem ?? I think they should be made to fix it again.......both problems......and to tell you exactly what they did this time. Have you opened both doors on the passenger side and inspected the seals.......and windows to be sure they are closing all the way ?? Is there another dealer close by ?? hybridbear Report post Posted May 22, 2014 Does the rattle happen 100% of the time at those speeds? That doesn't necessarily make it easier to diagnose, but it does make it easier to get the dealer to accept as legitimate. Do you hear the rattle differently when sitting in different spots in the car?

I'm sorry your last dealer visit didn't go as well as you would have liked, Jmagg73. I'm happy to lend a hand to get this rattle taken care of for you, but I can only do that if you decide to go to the dealer. Let me know if you change your mind, and I'll see what I can do. Jmagg73 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Yes rattle happens always above 60. I checked for loose pieces but didnt find anything. Called the ford Dealer that is the authorized Ford Body specialist and service dept didnt pick up the phone after four attempts by the switchboard person. Will try again today. Jmagg73 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 They fixed the rattle on the pillar on both sides of the vehicle. All rattles are gone. Not sure if they fixed the high speed rattle when they inspected the panels or trim on the car or if fixing the passenger side pillar cleared the rattle. No problems yet. damiank03 Report post Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Did you ever get it fixed? I have a rattle when I go above 60. It comes from the passenger side of the car. It sounds like it's around the back door. Edited September 6, 2015 by damiank03
FernMTL Report post Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Same here, a flapping noise coming from the passanger rear door. Sounds like a wire hitting the panel. I'm getting use to it with time. :) Edited September 6, 2015 by FernMTL

machoman1337 Report post Posted September 20, 2015 Just wondering, would long-term driving on cracked and potholed roads (where the car would shake a LOT on a daily basis) create a risk of parts coming loose and thus rattling? It's worrying to hear how so many people have rattling issues in the current gen Fusion. My last Fusion (a 2008 bought in 2012) was filled with them and I gave up trying to diagnose them and sorta got used to it. However one thing to note is that I bought that Fusion in Toronto and the last owner was a Toronto resident who lived in an area known for especially bad roads (even by Toronto standards). I primarily used that Fusion in Toronto and Ottawa/Gatineau on pretty rough roads (they use a lot of road salt there), and I think the rattling actually got worse over time. I bought my current Fusion as a certified pre-owned in Toronto so it obviously wasn't used very much beforehand. I almost immediately had it shipped to Vancouver, where winters are a lot milder (we only had one snow day last year) and thus roads are in noticeably better condition with at least a 90% reduction in likelihood of driving into a pothole, compared to Toronto. I rarely if ever feel the car shake during my morning commute as the roads are that much better. Do you think the chances of my car developing a rattle problem are low if I stay in these types of road conditions?
scn101 Report post Posted November 16, 2015 Did you ever get it fixed? I have a rattle when I go above 60. It comes from the passenger side of the car. It sounds like it's around the back door. I have the same rattle, happens at higher speeds only (like 70MPH) and seems to come from the right rear door area. Did you ever get this diagnosed and fixed? usererror Report post Posted March 21, 2017 So glad I found this post. My 2015 is also experiencing this rattle noise. I was going to get under the car, to take a look because mine sounds like it is under the car but perhaps it is not. I wish your dealer had been more detailed on what exactly they did to the B-Pillar area. Which body panel did they do? Under the vehicle or the side... Once it gets close to 70. It sounds like it's under the passenger door in the b-pillar area. When I had a dealer look for it, all they did was pull on the exhaust system to see if it was tight. usererror Report post Posted March 23, 2017 I'm at my dealer and they just came out and told me that the "panel" on the bottom of the car was definitely loose. They replaced the push fasteners and he said I should not have the problem anymore. I did give the service manager a copy of the work order from JMagg73 and he said that led him right to where the problem was. Thank you JMagg73 for posting your copy!!! I've got a highway trip on the docket for this Sunday; looking forward to not hearing that rattle noise!
