Voice nametag disabled

Recommended Posts

Prior to my recent service, when my dealer reloaded my "instrument cluster" software, I had voice nametags associated with Home and Work. I've been able to reenter Home, but can't add a voice nametag to my Work address. The setting reads "disabled" and it's grayed out. I tried rebooting Sync.... No dice. What next?

Hi md13ffhguy,

If you're seeing a message stating that the voice tag is disabled because it is too similar to a different voice tag? If so, try changing the name to something like "My Work" and see if that works. It sounds like you've already tried performing a master reset to your system, which would have been my next suggestion. Let me know what happens.

My voice tags are 50/50. There is a 50% chance sync/MLT ignores my request. :ohsnap:

Hi SteveB_TX,

Are you seeing an option to add voice tags to your favorite destinations on the MyLincoln Touch system or are you having trouble with the system recognizing all voice commands?

Ask Kim or your dealer.

Thanks for bringing this thread to my attention, hybridbear. :D

Kim, the option is there to enable the voice tag, but half the time the system does absolutely nothing but stare back at me when I press the voice tag button. When it works it works great. :)

It can take a significant amount of time (I didn't measure it) for the system to decide if a voice tag is unique enough to be accepted.

Short names like Bob and Sue are unlikely to be accepted if you have a lot of voice tags.

Are you currently running version 3.6.2 on your MyLincoln Touch system? If so, make sure you bring this to your dealership's attention the next time you're in for service so they can take a closer look.

I'm sorry - I forgot to come back to this!

Kim - the ability to create a tag for anything other than Home is disabled. I don't get a message about there being a duplicate. I can post a picture I'd necessary.

HB - yes, much thanks for bringing this to Kim's attention.

Hey md13ffhguy,

Once you save a destination as a favorite, the system will automatically show DISABLED in gray letters next to the VOICE NAMETAG section. To get here, press NAVIGATION > DEST > FAVORITES > select an address or add a new favorite > EDIT. Press VOICE NAMETAG and give it a couple seconds to determine if the nametag is too simple or similar to other commands. A pop up message should appear letting you know if it has been accepted or not.

If nothing happens, click NAME and a keyboard will pop up > key in a new name > touch ENTER > press the word NAMETAG again. When a nametag is accepted, the MyFord Touch system will repeat the word back to you.

Thanks Kim! That worked. I thought I had tried that several times, but I guess I wasn't patient enough. The "give it a couple seconds" required maybe four or five seconds. Previously, I think I was backing out of that screen after two or three...

You're welcome, md13ffhguy. I thought that may have been the case. I'm glad it's working now. :)
