glasssbaby Report post Posted March 23, 2014 Brand new 2014 Fusion Hybrid Titanium with MFT (purchased 2/26) and several times the voice command button has stopped working. It has re-enabled itself without intervention after one or more trips - no resets or pulling fuses or battery. Running latest version of Sync/MFT. Very disappointed. Hate to have to waste time and go to the dealer for them to diagnose / fix. I have read in several locations about this problem - dating back over 1 year - and there doesn't seem to be a solution. Does anyone know what to try? My spouse will not accept a fuse pulling or weekly reset solution. I would put up with it but she won't.And I'll have to hear about how we should have purchased the Honda Accord Hybrid for the next several years. murphy Report post Posted March 23, 2014 It could be the button itself or it could be the clockspring assembly that connects every button on the rotating steering wheel to the fixed steering column. Repair requires the dealer because messing with a steering wheel when you don't know exactly what you are doing could trigger the air bag in the steering wheel. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Hi glasssbaby, This is not normal behavior for the MyFord Touch system. I suggest performing a master reset to the MyFord Touch system first: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch If the issue persists after the reset, I'm going to agree with murphy and jeffo65 and suggest taking it to your dealership for diagnosis. glasssbaby Report post Posted May 1, 2014 Ok - I have paid more attention. The problem only shows itself after I use Sync Services to navigate somewhere. I do not have the in-car nav system, but have used Sync services to generate turn-by-turn directions (app on phone to create destination then uploaded after SyncServices initiated). Almost always, after reaching my destination, the next time the vehicle is started the voice command button becomes non-responsive. After a few vehicle start/stop cycles the functionality returns. I have not done any resets. Using voice control to switch radio stations or make calls does not seems to trigger the loss of voice command. Any ideas? :confused:Anyone else experience this after using Sync services to get directions? :detective:
djminfll Report post Posted May 1, 2014 I had the same issue with my '13 FFH - I brought it into my dealership and it was fixed. I can't tell you what they did, but the correction was done before Xmas last year and there have been no additional incidents. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Unless your car gets to the exact coordinates of your destination the route won't cancel automatically. In the case of a route that ends at my house I would have to drive to the middle of my back yard to get an automatic cancel. 1 Gib reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted March 5, 2015 This is happening to us now. Only the voice command button stops working. All other steering wheel buttons continue to work. I'll check and see if there is a correlation between using Sync Services & having the button act up.
TonyHzNV Report post Posted March 5, 2015 Is it just that nothing happens when you press the voice button? Like the MFT lady doesn't answer? If so, you need to reset MFT, preferably with the usb stick so you don't lose your settings. She will come back. It's happened to me too.

What is the USB stick reset? Usually restarting the car makes the voice commands work again.

C'mon you remember, the delayed reboot thing, posted by the guy from Michigan (pretty sure) that used to be a very regular forum user and then POOF... I think I needed to do the delayed reboot 3 times when the car was on Sync v3.5.1, but never since going to v3.6.2 in 2013.

I never had issues with the voice command button failing until updating to 3.6.2 a few weeks ago. It doesn't like that snarky tone in your voice, try being nicer. My problem is that I speak too quickly to it, I quickly say "USB" and it will return by saying "Tuning to 'The Heat' " well that is not a Sirius channel that I prefer, to put it mildly. So yeah it's quirky how sometimes Sync acts up, it was on the 2013 FFH that had the delayed reboot issues.... my 2013 FFE had done a couple "performing maintenance" reboots in over 40k miles, and wife's car has never had a hitch, not when I've driven it or none that she has ever mentioned (and I would hear about it, that the radio navigation thingee lady wouldn't cooperate, etc). 1 GrySql reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted April 7, 2015 I wonder if this SSM will fix this issue?? I also posted the SSM in the SSM thread.SSM 45012 - 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZ, 2015 MKC, 2015 Mustang - Steering Column Controls Inoperative With Possible U0212 - Built On Or Before 3/20/2015Some 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZs, 2015 MKCs, or 2015 Mustangs may exhibit the steering column controls such as turn signals, radio controls, and low speed wipers being intermittently inoperative with a possible U0212 in multiple modules. First, correct any HS2 CAN network issues that may be present if various other HS2 CAN U-codes are present. If no network issue is present and the vehicle is built on or before 3/20/2015, reprogram the SCCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 94.04 and higher. Remove and reinstall fuse F13 if the SCCM will not communicate in order to accept the calibration update. Replace the SCCM if communication with the module can't be restored. Use applicable 12651D labor ops and causal part 3F791 for reflash only. 1 GrySql reacted to this
