What a difference warm weather makes

Recommended Posts

Picked up my '14 HiTi 12/31/13 near the beginning of what we now know to be one of the worst winters ever in SE Michigan (and beyond). My commute to work and back (about 18 miles each way), was averaging about 38 to 40 mpg in the 0* to 20* weather. Then I stuffed foam insulation in the upper grill and saw mpg go up ~2-4 mpg. Now with a couple of 50* days, mpg on the same commute is 48-50. Very exciting stuff!

I said the same thing this morning, was 38* and foggy and I got 45 MPG. Brakes were grabby though, which make some stops rather quick.

My lemon is still a lemon. I did get 38.7 on my last tank. :yahoo: Not really funny though. Should have given the car back to Ford a long time ago.

whats wrong with 38.7? That is where I am at now. I get about 36 on the morning commute when it's below freezing and about 42 when it's warmer on the drive home. Once when we had a day in the high 50's I got 47 MPG. I expect when the weather warms up I will be able to get over 40 per tank, and that will be just fine.
