Can I add a subwoofer to a 2014 Titanium?

Recommended Posts

15 amps times 14.4 volts (the voltage when the battery is being charged) equals 216 watts.

The subwoofer amplifier in the car has a 20 amp fuse (#5).

The Sony amplifier has a 20 amp fuse (#28).

The radio and Active noise control has a 20 amp fuse (#33).

I don't believe your vehicle audio system should be heard outside of the vehicle which most boomers are. PERIOD.

Agreed!

You are not sitting a band room. If you want that type of experience in your FFH, try a high end set of headphone. This way you don't have to worry about frying the converter.

As an EE, and having done some analysis of the FFH electrical systems, there is a way to do it that won't require much in the way of resources and it can be done without hurting the converter.

But since I have no reason, or want to do this to my FFH. I'm going to keep my research to myself. This way I'm not exposed to any liability. Especially if someone was to cook a converter, HVB or themselves.

You are correct, I'm not. But when I was in my Bonneville, Durango, or S80, listening to classical or the Phantom Of The Opera sounded FANTASTIC. I don't personally feel comfortable driving with headphones on, and that also makes it pretty difficult to converse with others.

I do want to thank you, however, for keeping the results of any research to yourself. That has been of the utmost assistance. Thanks for being such a big help.

The headphone comment got me thinking. I have seen some high end car stereo speaker systems built into the headrest that were great. I tested a set up a local shop was hawking in my noisy TR7 and was quite impressed at the quality of top-down driving sound reproduction. You could still hear the other sounds like a fire truck nearby. The set up wasn't practical for the TR7, but maybe something in this direction could offer the quality sound you are seeking at low power need. The only thing missing was the chest pounding thump, but the difference between a bass drum and bass guitar was clearly available.

(With the top down in my Mustang, I’d rather listen to the V8 than the stereo.)

Off topic, but - Ditto!

After 30 years of Fire Department sirens I can't hear very well anyway.
