Google maps voice navigation issue

Recommended Posts

Discovered a new issue today. I'm normally using Google maps for navigation and I like(d) the fact that it would interupt music with a phone call telling me the next steps.

This morning setting up my trip g-maps made the first call but it didn't end the phone after the announcement. So I had to abort g-maps and started it over and it happened a second time.

Has someone expierienced the same or similar thing?

At this point I used apple maps which I don't like too much since it assumes certain directions. For example where I-355 and I-290 "split" it doesn't tell you to keep right instead you should be going straight. Officially 355 is the exit so 290 keeps going straight from the navigation point of view but in reality 290 exits. If you are unfamiliar with an area this "feature" sucks.

I've never been able to get Apple maps or Google maps to work consistently that way to speak directions to me. I've never been able to get them to speak through the car. You're already one up on me. If anyone knows how to make them work, an explanation of how to do it would be appreciated.

That direction are spoken thru the cars speakers doesn't work with apple maps app but it always has with google maps app.

Maybe I just need to delete the phone and re-connect hopefully it will start working again. I also rebooted my phone yesterday after some time it just drains the battery in no time and it gets really hot.

This happens to a coworker occasionally too. I've never had it happen, but if you know how to fix it then I can pass it on. Edited by hybridbear

Apparently just the phone reset was enough.

It was working just fine on my way back. Before the "call" ends there's still a noticeable delay but only seconds and not 90+ Seconds like yesterday.

Yes I do but in this case I would need to tell Siri ;) and that goes "against" the idea of not using your phone while driving.

Works every time.

I tried running Google maps nav through USB, but each time I try it immediately plays music that is stored on my phone through the speakers and the turn by turn GOogle Maps nav directions does not come through the speakers.

I have an Android phone.

Any ideas?

I do but it would be a smarrt@$$ remark. :)

When I have the iphone plugged in, I can listen to Pandora, or music on the phone and have the maps program going, it will announce the turns over the music, but its an iPhone.

Ok.

I will try multitasking on the phone and go through the bluetooth.

Hey folks,

I can't provide specific troubleshooting for Google Maps, but I encourage you to take a look at these connection tips if you haven't already done so: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/troubleshooting-sync-myford-touch You may find them to be helpful.

Let me know if you ever have questions about the Send to SYNC feature through MapQuest: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/send-to-sync
