Riggo Report post Posted March 3, 2014 It looks like it'll be available on Ford cars at some point. http://www.macrumors.com/2014/03/03/apple-announces-carplay/ 1 hybridbear reacted to this
ethermion Report post Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, I just saw that. I think it would be great. But this, and the QNX announcement have me wondering if it will come to my '13.
hybridbear Report post Posted March 3, 2014 Very cool! I sure hope that they bring this to our 2013s!
Bryan Burch Report post Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) What about the rest of the world who have Android based phones? I hope Google has something in the works for something similar. Edited March 3, 2014 by Bryan Burch
KLH Report post Posted March 3, 2014 ^ I was going to say - this is asinine. Google is the only company that should be doing this work as it would be able to be used universally. I would never use an Apple product in my car. It wouldn't work because Apple didn't make the car.
acdii Report post Posted March 3, 2014 Be careful what you wish for. Google is trying to eliminate the way http currently works, and is moving to do away with Java and the like. While change is good, there are still devices out there that use these programs and will no longer function on the new systems.
ers26 Report post Posted March 4, 2014 I would love to have Apple Carplay in my 2014 Fusion! I think it would be fantastic and I would be first in line to sign up!

It wouldn't work because Apple didn't make the car.I would just be the opposite :) I mean they all do their goofy things but so far I haven't heard about to many bad things happening on iOS vs Andriod on the virus front. Being open has advantages but it also opens the doors for the bad guys. Just saying... 1 acdii reacted to this
Riggo Report post Posted March 4, 2014 It looks like there won't be Pandora support for CarPlay. http://www.macrumors.com/2014/03/03/carplay-no-pandora-support/
Va2014HyTi Report post Posted March 4, 2014 Here is a good article that describes the playing field and players: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-57619829-48/2014s-battle-for-dashboard-supremacy-apples-carplay-vs-googles-oaa-vs-mirrorlink/?part=rss&subj=news&tag=title It appears that Ford is moving along but is keeping options open if another standard breaks out. I am happy about that since I am one of the unfortunate early few that actually bought a Sony BETA system back in the day! 1 acdii reacted to this

markd85 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 I have an xbox360 HD-DVD player if anyone's interested?? Back on topic, I was disappointed but not surprised when Ford was left off the "iOS in the Car" announcement last year so this is definitely promising. It's going to be well into 2015 before we know anything though.
