Wireless HVB Charging

Recommended Posts

That is scary when you think about it, a transformer under the car. Knowing how a transformer works in order to generate electricity to charge, it sets up an EM field under the car that the car then uses to recharge the pack. What else could be affected by it? Shocking when you think about it. Pun definitely intended.

Looks like Volvo is working on one too, and hopefully it will become wide spread and have an application to recharge our cars too. Applications like this would be good for long reaching projects. Imagine a series of these embedded in the highways that keep your batteries charging as you drive over them, so you would use even less fuel on the interstate.

But how would it be paid for and how much power would be needed to run it.

There's nothing wrong with induction coupling charging, you just have to get them very close. The flat surfaces of induction cooking systems are an example.
