2014 Auto Dimming Mirrors

Is there any way to disable the auto dimming mirrors on a 2014 Fusion? I can't seem to find anything in the owners manual...

I don't think that is possible but why would you disable that feature? I'm just curious because I think it's an awesome feature but there is usually a reason when people asked such things.

Sure there is. Take a 1/2 X 1/2 inch (1.27 X 1.27 cm for you Canadian folks) piece of electrical tape and stick it over the sensor at the top of the inside rear view mirror. That mirror controls the drivers mirror as well as itself. Or, you could tape a white LED (wired to be on whenever the car is on) to the front of the mirror over the light sensor... this will make the mirror think it is daylight 24/7! Either method will work. ;)

I don't want to disable it permanently, but at times, it seems to dim to dark for me. Its great for reducing headlight glare, but at the same time, it reduces visibility.

Is it just the rear view or also the side mirror that you want to disable? I believe that they both use the same sensor so covering up the sensor will affect both of them.

Just unplug it and wrap the cord going to the mirror somewhere out of the way. It's a simple plug but by doing so I believe you do disable the dirver's side mirror

I will trade you for my flip up mirrow. Its a 2014 model.

 

I bought one off Ebay about 10 years ago and put it on my Tarraus, then in 2011 when I bought my Fiesta I swapped them, now Im going to swap it in the Fusion.

Strange, min has also. Its stuck in the dim position, but it looks good to me. I havent had time toi check it out. The compass still works so the problem must be the mirrow itself.

On our 2001 Excursion, the dim position "melted" on a trip down to Florida during an incredibly hot stretch one July. It now has a wavy line seperating the top 1/4 to 1/3 from the bottom. The bottom is stuck on dim and the top is on. If that ever happens on my FFH, I will be upset. Didn't mind so much on the Excursion and it was really cool watching it as it melted.

No, it was the rear view mirror on the inside.
