inco Report post Posted January 6, 2014 In a few posts I have noticed that some folks have seats that are both heated and cooled. Somewhere along the many posts I have read, I recall that this was going to be a late addition option. However in checking our Canadian website to build your car, it isn't mentioned. They only mention heated seats, which are on my vehicle. Was this meant only for the USA or is there a possibility that new NA orders will get both? Would be nice. hybridbear Report post Posted January 6, 2014 They're part of a package. You can order them, but the Ford.com website is not current and doesn't show them. Some members on the Forum have already received cars with the cooled seats. The cooled seats come with the 10-way power passenger seat, IIRC.
inco Report post Posted January 6, 2014 Yes I noticed that and that has me hoping, however on my order sheet it says heated seats. Went back to the Ford.ca site and nowhere under build for the SE or Titanium, do they mention cooled seats or passenger 10 way power seat. Two way IIRC but no cooling. Maybe Kim or Ashley will pipe in and clarify.
Bryan Burch Report post Posted January 7, 2014 I put in an order for a '14 after the collision in my '13. I ordered the heated and cooled seats. Can't wait! Will be nice here in the summer (Oklahoma).
SteveB_TX Report post Posted January 7, 2014 The cooled seats are fantastic! Lately though, the heated seats in the rear have earned me brownie points. :)
Riggo Report post Posted January 7, 2014 Do you know how much extra the cooled seats are?
Howie411 Report post Posted January 7, 2014 Your car has rear heated seats?
hermans Report post Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Yes, the MKZ with the reserve option package includes rear heated seats. My rear seat passengers like it in the cold weather during a recent trip to Michigan. Edited January 7, 2014 by hermans
B25Nut Report post Posted January 7, 2014 Riggo, the Heated and Cooled seats are a $465 option, which also comes with the 10-way passenger seat and the choice of the Ceramic interior color. It appears to be available only with the Titanium trim. Ford is really dropping the ball by not updating the Build & Price on their web site to reflect the new options. 1 Riggo reacted to this

Are they now not offering the heated seats as standard on the Titanium? So does that mean it's an extra $465 for the cooled seats since the heated seats had come standard on the previous Titanium Hybrid? From looking on the Truecar.com website it looks like they don't have any prices for the heated and cooled seat option, almost like it's standard, but I know that can't be right. It also has the heated steering wheel option on that site. Edited January 7, 2014 by Riggo
B25Nut Report post Posted January 7, 2014 Heated seats are still standard in the Titanium along with the regular passenger seat.
Riggo Report post Posted January 7, 2014 You are right B25Nut, Ford is really dropping the ball with the website. What are they thinking?
inco Report post Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) So I guess that the $600 I'm paying for my heated seats is not going to include anything else. And yet if I ordered a Titanium I might have got them for $465 and had the cooling thrown in? Hmm, that does not make a soon to be FFH owner happy. Pricing in Canada has always been different than in the US, but somehow this really feels wrong. B25Nut Report post Posted January 7, 2014 With the Titanium, you are already paying the extra for the leather, heated seats. The $465 is on top of that to get cooled seats. You are getting a good deal with the Luxury Interior package for the SE, so be happy! You probably would have spent around $1500 more if you had picked the Titanium with cooled seats. inco Report post Posted January 7, 2014 I did not order the luxury package. I went with the appearance package and the special cloth seats. On top of that I ordered the heated seats and they were an additional $600. Appearance pack also gives you 18" rims, fog lights, spoiler and leather wrapped wheel. Mine is an SE. Riggo Report post Posted January 7, 2014 Speaking of options, Too bad the gas titanium 19" wheels aren't an option on the Hybrid Titanium. I guess that would drop the MPG too much. This post should be posted in another category though, just ranting.
Riggo Report post Posted January 15, 2014 I've never had cooled seats before but am intrigued by the option. Does anyone that has them or has had them in other cars think they are worth it? Part of me thinks it's just one more thing to break but the other part thinks it would be good in the summer. Although, the Titanium trim has remote start, I wonder how much the cooled seats are really needed if you can get your cabin temperature cool before you even get in the car. They are really awesome in summer. You can really feel the air blowing on your back. It lessens the need for air conditioning which saves gas.
acdii Report post Posted January 15, 2014 My Flex has them, but they dont cool my back as much as my butt. My F150 had them, and man talk about freeze your nutz off(they get that cold)! However it makes me feel like I whizzed my undies. They are good for cooling off the seat, but leaving them on all the time while driving they can get uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind them in the Hyti though, that would make summer driving without AC more comfortable. 1 Ryan Goodlett reacted to this

How are the seats cooled though? Does it use as much power to cool the seats as to use the a/c in the car? If it doesn't use nearly as much energy to use the cooled seats as it does to use the regular a/c then I can see it being beneficial in added gas mileage in the summer. acdii Report post Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) I think they use a device( Peltier?) that makes cold air, and a fan to circulate it. They dont use the vehicles AC unit, and are pure electrical. Updated. Some just use ventilation to blow air up your butt and make you use your bodies natural cooling process.
