dkegel Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Still haven't read the manual eh? :) If the push button doesn't work, (i.e., the button is broken), you can't start the car. The reason for the physical key is if the battery in the fob dies. You use the physical key to unlock the door and place the fob in the slot in the console (down by the USB jack), then push the button. murphy Report post Posted January 13, 2014 You do not use the regular type key to start the car. It will unlock the driver's door, once you find the keyhole, and it can be used to lock the glove box. It has no other uses. Both of your fobs are already master keys. You can use one of the master keys to turn the other one into a MyKey.
tr7driver Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Still haven't read the manual eh? :) DaveMy Key, Master Key, Intelligent Key, Valet Key, Remote Key, Skate Key, Smart Key, Keyless Key Remote with Key inside, Key Fob, Rescue Key, Backup Key, Key West. I'm not smart enough to search all over the da#&ed (don't want to be off key) manual. I can't find anything I'm looking for when I need it and the index isn't worth a hoot. I do appreciate everyone's efforts to educate me. At least I'm smart enough to use My Ford Sync/Nav/Sat radio. and that is supposed to be the hard part for us old guys. Unless I had youngsters sharing my car, it sounds like there is no pay off with My Key except to restrict me from using all the features in my car. Sounds like something they came up with in Washington. 1 GrySql reacted to this

Then you can search it with Adobe. I have found this to be much more useful than using the index at the back of the manual. 3 jeff_h, corncobs and GrySql reacted to this

dkegel Report post Posted January 14, 2014 I am obviously in the minority but I would (and did) just read the thing. Sit down and read it, cover to cover. You learn a lot. Dave 1 hybridbear reacted to this

dkegel Report post Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) You really kind of have to. To a new owner, the thing is like driving the space shuttle. Our salesman/dealer is very good. He sat with us and went over a lot of things before we left the lot, so that helped. DaveMe too, over a year ago and have referenced it very often since. That is why it's on my computers desktop, I can't remember everything I read. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
tr7driver Report post Posted January 14, 2014 I did read it, but there is so much there that I can't remember it all. Then when I go back and try to find it, I can't seem to locate it. The PDF download is a good tip, I'll try that. Its been so cold here that I can't sit in the car for long with the book. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
