Whats the point? (Composite Hookups)

Recommended Posts

Ford prides themselves in having the latest and great technology, so why do these cars have (Red, Yellow, White) composite hookups? I think the only device I still own that even supports that may be my original WII. Why not swap that with an HDMI, DVI or Component? What could they possibly thought someone would hook up to that in 2013? My 2010 FFH played DVD's from the CD/DVD drive on the NAV screen which was awesome, not sure why they got rid of that.

I have a DVD player (portable) that might play through those connections. I'll have to try it.

Buried somewhere in this Forum ( a year ago?) I related that I was able to watch a video from my iPhone 4 by using the Apple Composite to 30-pin iPhone connector.

Videos can only be viewed when the FFH is in Park.

Unless you buy this. Using my iPad is easier.

A lot of devices (my new HD Panasonic video camera for one) has a very easy "standard" hook up for watching a video source. It probably has to do with the limited resolution of the screen as well as a very very common (and understood) method of connection....

Just my .02 :)

They just followed a video standard that is common to all devices, one Video source, left and right stereo channels. Not everything has an HDMI port, or DVI port, but everything has a video out, and left right stereo outs(video players that is). It is a lot better than the USB hotspots they support(like NONE).

Ok, fine maybe some devices still have composite hookups, but at least also put an HDMI (which is also pretty much standard these days) on it.

I haven't been able to find an Aux connection yet (MFT) so I use two of the AV connections into an adapter to plug into my MP3 player's head phone jack to listen to audio books while commuting. It will also work through the USB connection but it seems hard to sort through chapters as easily as through the AV/headphone jack. Is there an Aux port located somewhere that I just haven't found?

Assuming you mean a jack to plug a 1/8" stereo cable into... no.

Are you using a cable like this? Seems like it would work.

Yes, that is what I have and it does work. On other modern cars, I have seen an "Aux" port included to plug the 1/8" stereo cable into but I guess this car doesn't have that option.
