jeff_h Report post Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Mine too, can't wait for it to get on a train. I imagine being in NYC that a train bound for the northeast should be relatively quick to fill and leave soon (hopefully). How long does it typically take? A few days? Below is an extract of a vehicle visibility report (a year old now), which logs actions for a VIN for builds and checkpoints during transit, etc. Getting from Hermosillo to New York is about 2 weeks, give or take a few days (once it gets onto a rail car at Hermosillo, that is). I think mine took 11 days for mine to get off a train south of Richmond, so there are a lot of variables in the train scheduling that might cause a car to sit in Chicago for 1 day, or 5 days, or whatever - note that in the report below there was a delay due to a breakdown, which of course do happen at times. acdii Report post Posted November 14, 2013 It took 14 days to get mine from the plant to Chicago area, 5 of those days the car sat at the rail yard on the south side. The rail trip goes fairly quick, usually 5-8 days on the tracks, its the loading of the trucks at the rail yard that take the longest. There needs to be a few cars on the truck to your dealer, or to a few dealers within a set amount of miles before they load it. However, from what I understand it cant sit more than 5 days once its off the rail car.
williape1 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 That's not bad at all. I'll give it a few days and ping the Ford team to see if they can provide a rail car number. Thanks everyone!
williape1 Report post Posted November 15, 2013 My car is on the train! Unfortunately I couldn't get them to provide the train number so that I can track it but at least I know that it's on the way. Estimated delivery of 11/29. 3 jeff_h, Toz and corncobs reacted to this

Erik Strait Report post Posted November 17, 2013 My car arrived in Cheyenne Wyoming this morning.. Hopefully it is here soon, considering it is only ~2 hours away from me at this time. It went through Texas, to Kansas, to Nebraska, Wyoming, and soon to be Colorado. Why it went up and around half the state, I have no idea. Thanks Erik 1 Toz reacted to this
Toz Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Very Cool! Hopefully there will be no delays from the rail yard to the transport truck.
Toz Report post Posted November 19, 2013 Drat my car is stalled down in Tucson AZ for the last two days. I hope it gets moving soon. :waiting:
Erik Strait Report post Posted November 19, 2013 ^ I know the feeling! My car is still in Cheyenne.. Its been there since Sunday @ 9am. To be held up when it is almost here and so close is killing me slowly. Every time I call I keep hoping that it has left Cheyenne, but I have had no such luck thus far. Hopefully yours leaves soon. Thanks Erik

Every time I call I keep hoping that it has left Cheyenne, but I have had no such luck thus far.Yeah you're at the mercy of the trucking company's schedule I guess. There was a user on BOF about 6 months ago whose car apparently sat in a rail yard near Chicago for 9 days... though he said he was bugging them about it each day (may have been bugging the shipper too, don't recall) and based on the way he wrote it didn't sound like he was very polite about it and was being a pest to the dealer, so instead of expediting things for that guy I wonder if someone parked his car wayyyyy in the back of the rail yard 'by accident'... so yeah it sucks waiting for the system to work, but will be worth it. 1 Toz reacted to this

Erik Strait Report post Posted November 20, 2013 Awesome Toz! Keep us updated! I have been very nice to my dealer when I have talked with them. But I haven't been contacting them much at all. However they got a hold of me today to ask me if I could take delivery Friday if they can make that happen. I gladly said Definitely! They are thinking it will be here tomorrow or Thursday. Thanks Erik 2 jeff_h and Toz reacted to this

Erik Strait Report post Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) My car is still in Wyoming. So the thought of a Friday delivery acceptance is fading fast. :waiting: Who would have thought this process would be so slow. My dealer has been nothing but great and keeping me updated. They are supposed to follow up with me this afternoon for confirmation. Maybe they have some tricks they can pull? Toz Report post Posted November 21, 2013 Wyoming, Co? not the state right? If it's Wyoming Co, and it gets on a truck today to Denver, then maybe a Friday delivery is still possible. Good luck. Stay calm.

Erik Strait Report post Posted November 21, 2013 Unfortunately It's not in Colorado yet. It's still in Cheyenne, Wyoming.. :( Although, driving, Cheyenne is only about 2.5 hours from here. I have been telling myself not to expect it until next week. So if Friday does pull through, It will be a bonus. Thanks Erik

Erik Strait Report post Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) 1) Thanks for the link! I will most definitely look into that! BTW, It says only $500 for the Hybrid, and $1,000 for the Energi. * They just changed it to $1,000 for 2013 models (Hybrid and Energi) and $500 for 2014 models.. 2) YAY! My car is finally almost here. It left Carr, Colorado earlier today and is Denver bound! I guess this weekend is still possible.. My car went around half the state and then down. Not quite sure why, but it did. It went from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, then Colorado. Oh well, The end is in sight! Erik Strait Report post Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Update! As of my 4:03pm. My car "has been placed at customer location"! Which, according to my calculations means it is 27.3 miles away from my dealer! I spoke with the dealer earlier and he is still hopeful for tomorrow. But is going to let me know tomorrow how things are looking. Thanks Erik Edited November 22, 2013 by Erik Strait 1 Toz reacted to this
trvlrschick Report post Posted November 22, 2013 Did you two get your rail car number from your dealers? Mine didn't give it to me, just said it's due the first week of December (thanks, already knew that).
Toz Report post Posted November 22, 2013 yes I got my rail car # from the dealer. He gave me copy of the visibility report. Hope you can get yours, it's been kind of fun tracking it on the rail. I have been plotting the progress on Google earth.
