3 Year Complimentary Sync Services - Good for second Owner?

Recommended Posts

Really not an FFH question. We recently helped our son get a used Ford Focus SE hatchback. This 2012 had only 9K miles. When he "Synced His Ride" it does not appear that he is given the remainder of the three year Sync Services. The web site is giving an option to enable a year for $60.

Does anyone know this to be the case? I guess I could always send an email to Ford and see what they say.

Did he register his VIN with Syncmyride? I just registered a Ford Certified Fusion Hybrid and got a 3 year extension of Sync from Ford.

Yep. I watched him do it. He created the account and put in the VIN. We will have to log back and and see if anything has changed. Then I think there may be a chat option somewhere.

Thanks for letting me know that, at least in your case, it appears a second owner shuld have some complementary sync services.

Thinking back, yes you should. When I got my 2010 FFH it was used and I was able to get the sync services for it. It could be a records issue though, possible it is still bound to the original owners cell phone.

As a second owner of a 2013 Hybrid SE, I can confirm that once I registered with my sync, I have the complimentary services,

Hi Tom,

I'm happy to help clear things up. :)

The complimentary subscription to SYNC Services is only offered to the original owner of eligible vehicles. Since your son is the subsequent owner, he will be prompted to purchase the services instead of activating them.

That being said, I do want to point out that our website determines who the original owner is by the registration of the VIN. If a VIN is never registered by the actual original owner, there is a chance that the trial subscription will appear on your account even if you aren't the original owner (this isn't very common). This is most likely what happened with pgje51 and acdii's accounts.

If you send the VIN over in a PM, I'll check on the back-end to let you know for sure.

Kim might be able to help rectify this.

Thanks for the shout, hybridbear.

Kim
