Rosskk80 Report post Posted October 7, 2013 I am very very disappointed in the upgrade, I had learned how to drive the fusion really well and was getting 4.6L/100km average on my 33km trip to work. I may have to re learn to maximize it, or maybe the battery has to get worn in?

It takes a few hundred miles of driving for the car to adjust. I noticed that immediately after the PCM update I was able to see EV Mode at 63-85 MPH, but the changes regarding reducing warm up time, etc, seemed to come gradually over the few weeks after the update. I'm coming to the end of the first tank since making the hard reset and resetting all numbers and starting from the 100% SOC. I'm at 38.3 mpg for the tank with 40 MTE. I'll refill and also look to maximize fuel load tomorrow. Edited October 9, 2013 by terryb
GrySql Report post Posted October 8, 2013 driving 'balls to the wall' for three days.I think we need to add this to the Welcome page's Acronym Decoder.BTTW - a new hypermiling driving term. :)

IMHO some of our cars are not ever going to be amazing mileage achievers. On certain days and routes I can get 48-58 mpg's, yet on others I barely get 30 mpg's.My Lifetime Average right now is 39.6 mpg and believe me I try real hard to keep it that high. 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
Rosskk80 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 100% SOC reset? What is that? Any way to "downgrade" back to what the fusion was originally??
terryb Report post Posted October 8, 2013 100% SOC reset? What is that? Any way to "downgrade" back to what the fusion was originally??There is no way we know of to eliminate the software update changes. But, the 100%SOC reset involves running the car in park or low range in order the force the ICE to charge the high voltage battery to 100% on the gauges. Next, you disconnect both batteries and wait for 15min. or more then close the high voltage disconnect and then install the low voltage battery lug. This clears the memory maps in the engine controls and forces the car to reload the driving style info. from a fresh start. This may help overcome some unwise operation in the car's youth. The addition of the 100% SOC to the hard reset allows the car the maximum battery availability. My first 20 mile drive after this process gave me 54 mpg if I remember correctly. However, the mileage by the end of the tank was back down to 41mpg.
