New fusion order

We ordered my wife a 2014 HyTi 8 weeks ago. The only status we have got is it arrived at Flat Rock 2 weeks ago and is waiting on a truck. The dealer claims to have no way of finding out what is going on with the car. The delivery date was supposed to be 10/4.

 

My wife is a little more than a little annoyed at the lack of information the dealer is providing. Is there anyway to find out the status of this car?

Assuming you've checked here and perused this link, if the vehicle was manufactured in Hermosillo and it's now in Flat Rock, that likely means that the car was shipped to Flat Rock to be examined for QC. When this has happened to others, it's sometimes added a few weeks to the delivery time for their vehicles. It kinda sucks, I know.

I have looked both places, thanks. We were lead to believe that all of the fusions bound for our area went to Flat Rock by rail and then loaded on trucks to be delivered to the dealer.

 

They big issue is the dealers lack of ability or willingness to find out what is going on. I have bought 10 vehicles from this dealer over the past 12 years and just not getting the service I expect.

 

My wife told them that if the car is not here and ready for her to pick up on Saturday they can keep it. She has already found an in stock MKZ she is going to go buy.

Sorry to hear about the crappy service. Glad to hear you have an alternative lined up. That being said, as much as I love the Fusion, I would do my due diligence and check out the Hybrid Accord too, once the actual reviews hit the magazines. I'm by no means attempting to be disrespectful to Ford, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Honda won't have a problem meeting their EPA estimates. I realize that the Accord is an uglier car, but if you're after great gas mileage, it might be worth waiting a couple of weeks longer. That is if you can handle the wait :-) (which would personally be very difficult for me lol).

Well the Accord is so ugly I wouldn't even consider it and I have had one Honda and that was enough for me.

This is not true in most cases, as both of my orders went via rail to Petersburg VA (just south of Richmond) and then trucked from there. There's a centralized rail yard somewhere near Columbus OH where cars destined for that area would move from rail to truck, but seems like it would be a lot closer than Flat Rock.

 

I just browsed that "useful resources" thread and see that there is facebook link there, but in other threads one of the things mentioned (and I've done this myself) is to go to the Ford.com site and start a build and price session, then on the top left next to the option to "change vehicle" there is also a "chat" link -- if you launch that, tell them you have your VIN and want to know where it is located. They can find the info and may or may not be willing to give you all of the info (they may tell you that your dealer is the one to check with again), but it's free and should only take 5 minutes to check. I have a suspicion that there will be many first-time hybrid drivers will buy an Accord and expect to get EPA estimates driving 70+ MPH and jack-rabbiting after stops and then complain about bad MPG. Also from some family experience with Hondas, I wouldn't be surprised if the first batch or two of Accord Hybrids had a few duds, just like the FFH. But you're right, new buyers should explore all possible options, as I would have if the Accord was available when I was buying. Though the looks would have certainly pushed me away very quickly.

Well the dealer got a call from someone at Ford and said they are having tucking issues. When the dealer checks online the delivery date has now been changed to TBD. Which means we have no clue when or if the car will show up (already been 9 weeks) . We told the dealer that was unacceptable and just keep the car if it ever shows up.

No deposit on the Fusion. I have bought 10 vehicles over the past 15 years from this dealer so they didn't ask for one.
