corncobs Report post Posted September 6, 2013 I just compared the 2014 Owner's Manual with the 2013 Owner's Manual. They are both reproduced below. The Lifetime Summary is not in the 2014 manual.Do you suppose that it was removed because too many people were comparing it with the EPA numbers? Thanks for looking Murphy I was thinking about comparing the manuals. I think you are correct with your assumption which I think is a very bad move on Ford's part. This IMO bad move will probably trigger even more skepticism on the FE part of the FFH.
dkegel Report post Posted September 6, 2013 Well that's a bummer. Even our 2010 had the lifetime average fuel economy. Dave
acdii Report post Posted September 6, 2013 Maybe Ford thinks it was hurting the gas mileage so they deleted it. Think about it though, you have trip 1 and trip 2, if one is never reset, it will show the same thing. Maybe Ford decided it didnt need the redundancy(or needed the memory space for something else). We should feel fortunate though, the Hybrids are the only ones that even have a trip summary when you shut off at the end of a trip. I would love to have it in the Flex. 1 fusionTX reacted to this

I still feel like there's a need for a 3rd screen. I regularly use trip 2 for tank mileage and trip 1 for actual trips (sometimes less than a tank, sometimes over the span of tanks). I would actually love to have a 3rd trip right now (on top of the lifetime) so I could more easily gauge legs of a long trip.

There's the one displayed all the time (on the Engage, Empower, etc. screen), Trip 1, and Trip 2. All three are independent of each other and can be reset independent of each other. corncobs Report post Posted September 8, 2013 Technically there are 4 but that it's only true for the 2013 MY ( all the above + LTA - lifetime avg. ) As we have determined here Ford has dropped the LTA for the 2014 MY which was displayed after each trip about 5 sec after the trip summary. I cracked up on your first sentence, but I think removing exisiting functionality has more to do with EPA numbers.

It is great for playing MPG games for a day or for a sequence of errands etc. i reset it frequently.
