New 2014 Titanium Hybrid Owner

Recommended Posts

Happy to have wandered across this site! I've had my 2014 Titanium Hybrid about a week now from South Bay Ford after owning TWO previous Priuses (a 2007 and a 2010). I'd forgotten what a car that didn't need earplugs felt like. Only about 300 miles so far, but feel much better already from the 110,000 miles racked up in the two Priuses over the last 6 years. Loving it all so far.

Unfortunately they Hybrid Titaniums don't come with dual exhausts. It was an original misprint or retract from Fords 2014 order guide.

So they had the same misprint two years running :)

Congrats on your knew car. You will love it!

New 2013 Job 3 C-Maxes are missing the Lifetime Summary when turning the car off. Does your 2014 FFH still show both the Trip Summary and Lifetime Summary when you turn the car off?

We just picked up a 2014 Hybrid Ti Friday. Pretty sure it just shows the trip summary. But I think the 2013s are the same. Grabbed this pic from another thread:

Dave - does your 2014 HyTi show the Lifetime Summary as well when you turn the car off?

Well, now that I look at the screenshot above, it appears you can scroll? So I assume it would be on a different screen/page? Hmm... I'll have to check when the wifey gets home. It's her car. :(

Correct, on the 2013 Fusions and on Job 1 & Job 2 2013 C-Maxes you can scroll between the Trip Summary and the Lifetime Summary. The car will also flip back and forth automatically between the 2 screens after you shut off the car. Since the 2013 Job 3 C-Maxes no longer have the Lifetime Summary option I'm curious if the 2014 FFHs are also lacking that option.

Interesting. I have not seen it flip at all on its own. I will double-check tonight. However, coincidently, my wife sent me this screenshot after her arrival at work this morning (first day with the new car) and it does have the scroll arrows:

Dave, when you shut off the car and you get the screen that you showed, if the car does have the Lifetime view, you can scroll either up or down to that next screen. Also, if you don't do anything when you shut off the car, if it has the LIfetime Summary, it will automatically switch to the Lifetime screen after like 5 seconds or so.

Congrats! I'm a new owner week and a half now. Loving the information overload. :)

OK. I can confirm that our 2014 does not show the lifetime view. I cannot scroll (the scroll icon is displayed, but it's greyed out) and lifetime does not display on it own. In fact, I'm not even sure how to find the lifetime mileage in general?

Anyway, kind of a bummer

Dave could that be an option like the BrakeCoach or EV+? Have you checked the Settings section on the left? There is a section for the Lifetime Summary maybe they added on/off for it.

If not it would and equally dumb change like changing the engine temp indicator from blue when cold to always white.

I don't see it anywhere. Under Settings/Display I have language, units, brake coach, and driving history. Driving History just says "Restore Hybrid Vehicle Default Values"

Mmhh that is really odd now I wonder how you can now view the lifetime #.

Reading the options you saw it sounds like they completely deleted the lifetime summary.

C'Mon Ford why is the lifetime summary not longer displayed / recorded after the car is shut off.

I just compared the 2014 Owner's Manual with the 2013 Owner's Manual.

They are both reproduced below.

The Lifetime Summary is not in the 2014 manual.

Do you suppose that it was removed because too many people were comparing it with the EPA numbers?

2014

Trip Summary:
Trip Summary is displayed upon shutting
off your vehicle. The data is calculated over
the last on and off cycle.
• Distance - The total distance traveled,
distance traveled on battery power
only (EV distance) and Regen distance
are displayed. Regen distance is the
estimated range gained from energy
recaptured through regenerative
braking.
• Energy Use - The average fuel economy
and total fuel used are displayed. In
addition for Energi, the total electrical
energy used while in Plug-in Power
Mode is displayed in kilowatt hours
(kWh).
• Brake Score - The average percentage
of braking energy recaptured and
returned to the high voltage battery
through regenerative braking.

2013

Trip Summary and Lifetime Summary:
These will be displayed upon shutting off
the vehicle. Trip Summary will appear first,
then Lifetime Summary will be displayed.
You can toggle between these displays
using the up and down arrow keys on the
left hand steering wheel controls.
Trip Summary data is from the last power
cycle, while Lifetime Summary data is
cumulative from the last Lifetime
Summary reset done through the Settings
menu in the message center.

Trip Summary:
• Distance - The total distance traveled,
distance traveled on battery power
only (EV distance) and Regen distance
are displayed. Regen distance is the
estimated range gained from energy
recaptured through regenerative
braking.
• Energy Use - The average fuel economy
and total fuel used are displayed. In
addition for Energi, the total electrical
energy used while in Plug-in Power
Mode is displayed in kilowatt hours
(kWh). Trip Summary average fuel
economy will be shown in blue if better
than your lifetime average fuel
economy
• Brake Score - The average percentage
of braking energy recaptured and
returned to the high voltage battery
through regenerative braking. The
brake score will be shown in blue if
greater than (better than) the lifetime
brake score.

Lifetime Summary:
• Distance - The distance traveled on
battery power only (EV distance) and
Regen distance are displayed. Regen
distance is the estimated range gained
from energy recaptured through
regenerative braking.
• Energy Use - Average fuel economy.
• Brake Score - The average percentage
of braking energy recaptured and
returned to the high voltage battery
through regenerative braking.
