Remote Start Questions

Recommended Posts

I have had my HyTi for a few months now and have some questions I hope someone out there can answer.

1. When doing a remote start, is the 12V battery charging?

2. When doing a remote start, is the amount of time the vehicle is "running" factored into average MPH for the trip/tank?

3. When doing a remote start and the ICE starts, is that fuel factored in to the trip MPG, or just the tank MPG?

4. not a remote start question. Does anyone know how to adjust the brightness of the screens that flank the speedometer? The brightness control on the dash only adjust the speedometer face and needle. The brightness control in the MFT only adjusts the MFT. Maybe mine is broken.....

1. Whenever the car is running, the system is doing its thing, so as necessary, running the gas engine to charge the high voltage battery (HVB), use the DC to DC converter to move energy from the HVB to the 12 volt battery, and using the 12V battery to run instruments.

2. The remote start running time is part of the Time for the trip, but since there are no miles accumulated, the mileage decreases, just as if you're sitting at a stop light.

3. The fuel consumed will be part of the statistics for the tank and the trip.

4. I can't find anything too differentiate what parts of the display are adjusted.

4. I believe the side screens on mine dim just as the dash lights, etc on mine. Dont know if they dim when the headlights arent on. I know you can dim the others when the headlights are off.

In reply to #4, the controls for brightness along side the headlight control dim the 2 dash screens, the speedometer and the center radio screen. Since we don't have MFT but just the small radio screen it is dimmed via the same control. I imagine that if your controls are only dimming the speedometer that there is a short. Take a look at the Engineering Test Mode thread. In ET Mode you can see detailed information about brightness. You could open ET Mode to that screen, adjust the brightness and see what's displayed. That might help you understand if it's working or not.

Using ET mode, no matter what I do, the DimDisplay stays at 9989.

Using the dash brightness controls adjusts the speedo, needle, and PRNDL. They can be adjusted from 13-9989

Using the MFT and setting it to Auto, Day, Night, or Off, nothing changes, it just stays at 9989.

Is anybody with an MFT able to adjust the brightness of the screens on the dash?

Interesting to know that your ET Mode shows them not changing. Perhaps you can bring it in and show the dealer. Sounds like some sort of software bug.

In my HyTi with MFT, the two 4" screens brighteness changes with the + and - buttons by the headlight control. Someone else mentioned earlier that their car doesn't do that.

Mine must be broken. I wonder which software updates this. I haven't had either of the most recent updates done since I got it home here to Hawaii.

I'm seriously scared of taking it to the dealer here.

Odd.....I just noticed today that in the lower left corner of the MFT it said "volume limited to MyKey". I don't have a MyKey and the volume was completely adjustable.

I had this problem too, dont remember which car, thinking the HyTi, but I had to reset the MFT for it to properly clear. I couldnt adjust the speed compensated volume(SVC). Take a look for the thread to reset the MFT without losing the settings. Its a file you load to a flash drive and let the system do its reboot. It should be one of the pinned ones. This corrected the problems I had with MyKey.

I did the MFT reset and I don't see the MyKey thing in the lower corner any more, but the 2 dash screens won't adjust their brightness.
