Wingmn Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Greetings everyone! I wanted to say great forum! I have learned quite a bit about the specifics on the 13 FFH after much reading. I'm tickled pink to have a hybrid after driving my Saturn for so long as if I had one. I do have to say, since I'm in the PNW the hills are killer going up, but awesome going down. I've owned the car since the 12th of Aug, bought it with 6k miles on it, have driven about 300 miles, and am EXTREMELY pleased. I geek out in that car everytime I drive it. I'm in the Air Force, and was previously living in Oklahoma City, where I averaged 36 MPG per tank in my Automatic Saturn, I had achieved 41 mpg for 1 tank, but circumstances were optimal. So, now that I've had the FFH for 10 days, I can say the last 4 years of hypermiling my Saturn have paid dividends. I've exceeded the EPA numbers several times, was way under several times, and actually I'm averaging around 44 MPG, but I don't drive the vechicle everyday. The previous owner left me just under a half tank of fuel, which I was able to put 240 miles on. Just put my first full fill in it and am really looking forward to seeing a complete tank score. The previous owner never reset the trip meters while he owned it, and the Ave MPG for the 6k miles he had on it was 34.9. Never updated the MyTouch screen, I'm getting that and the PCM update this Saturday. So, I look forward to many great topics and learning experiences from this forum in the future, and once again Greetings!! I'm excited to be part of this forum. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted August 22, 2013 So you bought this 2013 FFH and are not the original owner? When I saw you were in Seattle I was going to write "hey there is a guy there (don't remember user name) who was not happy with MPG, you should get together"... but if you are the second owner, who knows you might have his car! What's the last 6 of the VIN? Anyway, welcome from a retired AF old-timer! 1 hybridbear reacted to this
thavil Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Congrats and welcome from an US Army retiree (now a GS'er working for the Air Force). Hope your car works out great for you.
hybridbear Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Welcome! Like others, I'm curious about the circumstances of why the first owner was selling his car.

Wingmn Report post Posted August 22, 2013 As funny as it sounds, the previous owner is moving out of the country. He is a Development Mngr w Microsoft and is being relocated by choice to Skype in Stockholm, Sweden. So, I get a used FFH :) For all you retired guys - Thank you for your service. Thanks for the welcome as well everyone :) Last 6 of VIN 113790
jeff_h Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Last 6 of VIN 113790 Nope, don't see that one in my list of those who were waiting for orders last year... however I looked that up in Etis (www.etis.ford.com) and you do need the 13B07 PCM update along with the 13S04 fuel delivery recall (a few here have gotten that done, most of us still waiting on parts). The Sync ones are on just about everyone's VINs.` Outstanding Field Service Actions12M02 - SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM)13A01 - SYNC WITH MYFORD TOUCH - APPLICATION PERFORMANCE UPGRADE13S04 - FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACEMENT13B07 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION So if you've already been able to get good MPG, the 13B07 should help it a little more, unless you recently got it and Etis hasn't updated. djminfll Report post Posted August 23, 2013 May I just say again what a fantastic group of forum members we all have? I cannot believe how much valuable information you have all provided to Wingmn! I think if I ever got rid of my FFH, I'd miss the forum as much as the car! 1 acdii reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted August 23, 2013 That's an early VIN.Yeah, built on Sep 7th, just a couple weeks after they started. Actually when I was at my dealer getting the thrust washer kit installed, I found an older SE still new and sitting on the lot, was built on Sep 4th and went into that dreaded 'TBD' and didn't get to my dealer until May and sitting there since (as soon as cars arrive they get PDI and inspection sticker on window so you know what month it arrived)... so where that thing was between Sep - May, who knows? hermans Report post Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) It was at "offsite storage." Probably in the very center of the one lot that had a capacity of 12,000 cars. Edited August 23, 2013 by hermans
Wingmn Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Just out of curiosity and ignorance, what database are you guys using to look all this info up on our FFH's?
hermans Report post Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) If you Google earth the plant in Mexico you can see two huge off site storage lost that Ford uses. At one time they were jam packed with Fusions, All of the excess parking around was also stocked with Fusions. Not so many there now with this latest map: http://goo.gl/maps/oTdq4 Edited August 23, 2013 by hermans 1 Aquineas reacted to this

You actually provide a lot of interesting info to the forum; thank you for that (not being facetious). On a tangent, it looks like Hermosillo is only about 75 miles from Tiburon Island, made famous (to me, anyway) by Survivorman 10 Days Mexico :-). On another tangent, this entire inner Baja Coast is about a dozen water de-salination plants away from agricultural Mecca :-). acdii Report post Posted August 25, 2013 If anything, it shows how well the Fusions are selling! I keep hearing how Toyota and Honda are so well sold, yet when you really consider that the new Fusion has only been out for less than a Year and can see at least 1 or more every day no matter where you are, that means they are selling VERY well. Then again, who can tell the difference between a 2012, 2011, and 2013 Camry? They all look the same. They really dont look very different than a 2009. At least 2010-12 Fusions look different than prior years, and I see a lot of them too. I do think that a good portion of Toyota Camry sales are for Fleet use too, last time I was in Chitcago I saw almost every taxi was a Camry Hybrid, or a PPP(still cant say it).
