SteveB_TX Report post Posted August 20, 2013 Texas was kind enough to provide 2 plates for my Z. The problem was deciding which one to put up front! ;) 2 corncobs and dalesky reacted to this

Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 20, 2013 I live in PA. This is a rear only license plate state and both my cars came without the front bracket. I have no clue, were a rear only plate state and my car wasnt ordered with the front plate option but it had it. Even the owner at the dealership here said he gets alot of complaints from customers about it but i looked at the cars locked inside the closed lincoln dealership and there the same way too. Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Looking at cars on lots in extreme north louisiana dont have them. Never looked that far as they didnt have any hybrids before. Anybody got any ideas about removing it? Its a stupid idea for them to put massive holes vs doing it like they do on the trucks and just putting a bracket hidden. I know the FFH has an option about the plate. Just find it weird that my car doesnt list anything about it like the fusions with it did. Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 20, 2013 Screw it.. just spent $33 on bumper plugs.. Ford emailed me back and said there system shows my area as being a front license plate area yet they will look into why portions of louisiana are listed as that and northern louisiana isnt.. They should offer the car to dealers without if they want to deal with it.

hermans Report post Posted August 20, 2013 I didn't bother to look any farther than what I posted. You got to ask yourself - self what are the holes in my 40K+ MKZ worth.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 20, 2013 I ask myself.. WTF was ford thinking? Most other vehicles put them on with brackets that go down and in. Some of the more expensive BMW or Audi actually have 2 different grill fillers that snap in. One with holes one without.
acdii Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Just get a big shiny plate that says MKZ on it. Frame it with flashing LEDs. Guaranteed they will see you rollin! 1 SteveB_TX reacted to this

I know the FFH has an option about the plate. Just find it weird that my car doesnt list anything about it like the fusions with it did. There was miscommunication between the dealer and my wife when the car was being prepped, so it had the holes drilled and the advertising plate was on it. I took it off and found some chrome covers used for hiding bolts when mounting license plate covers. I left the two bolts in, and just glued the chrome covers over them. Looks good, and kind of matches the chrome of the grill. Best I could do!

SteveB_TX Report post Posted August 26, 2013 Still need to get off my ass and put in the bumper plugs lol. Forgot about them and I dont have access to a drill on the weekends. Everyone should own a drill (I have four) and assorted bits! Make a quick run to the Depot or Lowes and pick one up. :yahoo:
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 26, 2013 Drill wasnt where i was tho.. I got them drilled out. One fits nice, the other one was put in with a different rivet than the first one so the hole was bigger. It moves a little if you touch it but for the most part looks good. Other one fits super snug and nice. Will post a pic of the look later on.
acdii Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Get some clear silicone and glue it in.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Get some clear silicone and glue it in. Im too old and forgetful to even come up with one of those. Its in there to where it aint gonna come out unless u dig at it. I may have to see if I can get behind it to smear some silicone. Pulling it out could mess it up becuase its crazy thin.
