Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Anybody else notice the sensors being weird when its raining? Hard or lightly. My front ones will go crazy sometimes and today I had the rear side for the blind spot monitoring stick on and the whole system shutdown for about 10 miles. Dry there is no problems at all. acdii Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Yep. If it is really wet with hard rain it will do that. They use a form of radar that heavy rain can disable. I think the front and rear sensors use acoustic(audible) sound and the BLIS uses radar.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Im gonna try waxing the sensors and see if that helps any. Because the fact the BLIS system turned off and didnt come back on even without rain for like 10min was a pain. That can be a accident waiting to happen to anybody who doesnt realize it. Since it didnt even tell me it went off.

Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 When the system is not working there is a warning light/icon that lights up near the odometer. I had no weird lights on. But i watched people come up in the mirror and passed some and the light on the mirror never came on. Thats what i found weird. Isnt the light your refering too for a system fault? hermans Report post Posted August 14, 2013 The sensor not working is a system fault.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 I dunno.. after about 10minutes it all came back on and has been working since.. It only did that to me on the highway.. I figured it was something in the system after the light stays on for an extended period of time (was prob 2-3min) everything turned off on the BLIS system. Do you happen to know of a pic showing the light that would have been on?
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Just read that the older fusions had this issue in the rain and that the system would powerdown on those too. On those it would come up on the screen and beep saying BLIS radar blocked. Didnt actually trigger any form of system fault. Maybe that popped up on mine and I didnt notice due to a lack of beep? Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 14, 2013 Final post on this. In the manual ford says not to use the system in the rain and to disable the system during rain. Thats kinda stupid in my opinion that other vehicles those systems work without issues in the rain. Snow on the other hand I can understand causing problems. Apparently in rain if it hangs it disabled for 5 minutes than trys a reboot. If after the reboot it still cant function properly than it throws a error message on the display. acdii Report post Posted August 16, 2013 I have not had problems in the rain with mine. I have in Fog, or dewy early mornings.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted August 24, 2013 I've been told the sensors have a high defect rate. The fact my car is covered with them makes that 20% defect rate possible I have a crazy one. Pretty sure it's in the front tho. If only I could diagnose better.
