How to view latest PCM update IN VEHICLE?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Proud owner of a new 2013 Ford Fusion HyTi a/o last evening. I was told that my vehicle was preloaded with the latest software update from Ford to fix MPG / EV efficiency etc. How can I verify this is the case IN DASH? Is that possible or can it only be verified at the dealership?

Appreciate your help. Experienced my first drive this morning to work, wow it's an incredible vehicle!

Excited to learn about all the technology and how to best operate the hybrid engine from other FFH owners.

Thanks again.

Michael

Welcome to the forum Michael and congrats on the new ride.

I'm sure there is a way to tell by going into the engineering test mode on the left screen but its very easy to tell.

Two ways:

@ 70 MPH take your foot of the gas > does it go into EV mode?

When going over 63 MPH the blue frame for EV power threshold in the Empower screen doesn't go away. It did before the update since EV was only possible up to 62 MPH

Michael, welcome and try to take your time learning about all the tech these cars have. Some members have reported running down their batteries while parked and trying everything out. It's a blessing and a curse!

Welcome, and best of luck! Hopefully, your enjoyment will only grow as your ownership continues. I recommend reading some of the older postings here, there is A LOT to learn, and these provide tons of valuable information.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I can confirm the update as I cruised to the office this morning and was able to trigger EV at 70 mph.

Do most of you utilize the ECO Cruise feature on the highway? Seems like EV is somewhat sparse at highway speeds and drains very quickly. I've been getting around 42-44 mpg to the office. Approx. 50miles, relatively flat terrain (FL), and speeds ranging from 60-73mph. It is a bit choppy at times with traffic. Hope to improve the mpg levels as I become more comfortable with the hybrid powertrain.

I will continue to peruse the forums to catch up on any tidbits that could be of use to improve the experience. :)
