Plasti Dip

I vaguely recall hearing some users mention Plasti Dip relating to use on the car to coat certain parts, such as the front grille. I'm curious what else ppl can share about Plasti Dip, both as a product and as a company. Thanks.

The how-to videos on that site are wonderful. And they offer a lot of colors and effects you can't get anywhere else. I used the Anthracite Metallic Grey on my wheels and I love it. Cost me maybe 25 bucks (including glossifier) to completely change the look. Some people choose to black out their emblems or badging, which I experimented with just out of curiosity. It's very easy to do and very easy to remove, which I did.

 

 

It goes on just like spray paint, and can come off at any time with no side-effects. People say it can last years without issues, even with salt covered roads. I applied my dip with the wheels still on the car, just masked off the calipers and behind-wheel area with a regular sized trash bag (which the website even provided! haha) and sprayed. It peels right off the tires and I was able to peel it right off of my orange center caps on my wheels as well. I did mask off my lugs and valve stems just for simplicity's sake.

Edit: I should also note that some people actually plasti dip their whole vehicle. It's pretty interesting. I wouldn't go that route myself but it's cool to look at some of the examples.

I think the plastidip will be good for the grill before putting the cover on. It will provide a cushion between the plastic and chrome. Then remove it when the cover is removed, or just pray the inside of the cover.
