thavil Report post Posted July 11, 2013 For anyone interested, below are pics of the AVS In-Channel Ventvisors I just installed. They were $69.99 (minus my $10 coupon) at AutoAnything with free shipping. I know they are not for everyone but I like the looks of the in-channel and they serve a great purpose. Nothing touches the paint with the in-channel version. 3 GrySql, Da0ne and djminfll reacted to this
DeeCee Report post Posted July 11, 2013 Recently installed the same on my FFH. Were very easy to install and look good. Nice to leave the windows cracked open a bit and not worry about rain. 1 thavil reacted to this

JSKershaw Report post Posted July 12, 2013 How do these fit in the channel? Can you post a pic of the window opened and how they are attached to the car? These look great!
djminfll Report post Posted July 12, 2013 Here is a link where you can buy these visors - there is a place to click where you can see a video of the installation. It looks super-easy to do, at least in the video. http://www.autoanything.com/deflectors/61A1739A0A0.aspx?kc=googadw&k_clickid=62dae0c5-a330-9d69-3bab-0000519b6c94&k_trackingid=139x320491&gclid=cjovsf6gqrgcfsuv7aodcvuaaw 1 JSKershaw reacted to this

The install was super-easy just like the video. I only ran into one small issue and that was with the front windows. After I pulled the tape backing for the final part of the install, on my first attempt at closing the window, the safety feature kicked in and the window lowered. All I had to do was to push up inside the vents on each corner to give the window more clearance. I was then able to close the window with no issues and I will leave the windows closed for 24 hrs like the instructions said. This will give the tape pleanty of time to cure on the rubber seal that it is mounted to. Edited July 12, 2013 by thavil

thavil Report post Posted July 13, 2013 Please update us when the tape has cured and the windows are opened and closed. I'm curious as how the window reacts to the vent now that it's occupying the channel. All four windows work fine after the curing process. Both front windows do make a slight rub noise when it meets the vent in the channel. Shouldn't be an issue. All four vents had small scratches in them when I opened the package but I didn't worry about them. I recently purchased some Novus 2 for the piano trim and this stuff took every scratch out of the vents.
thavil Report post Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) I would feel guilty if I didn't report a small issue that I am experiencing after I installed my in-channel vent visors. I am now hearing a little road noise after the install that wasn't there before. Maybe I did something wrong during the install but I don't think so. I googled the noise and other owners hear it also. Not a deal breaker for me but it might be for others. Edited July 14, 2013 by thavil

They are in the slipstream so that wind noise will transfer a bit. I have had vent shades on other vehicles and always noticed wind noise after installing them. 1 thavil reacted to this
djminfll Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Thavil, thank you for mentioning the wind noise, I think that might be a deal breaker for me. My last two cars generated so much road noise, I relish the quiet interior of my FFH. 1 thavil reacted to this
thavil Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Last post on the vent visors. What a difference they made with lowering all four windows a little on our hottest day of the year here in the DC area. The wife even made a comment that they were worth the money. My Covercraft sun shield and tint helps, but lowering the windows without worrying about rain was great. Simple things in life can make you happy! 1 hybridbear reacted to this
inco Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Updates, any updates out there? It's almost a year since the last post and I'm wondering how happy people are with them. I have had them on all of my last vehicles and to me they make sense. Last week it was raining (a lot) and it was frustrating not being able to lower the window and get fresh air. Instead all I got was wet! So has every one used the AVS product, or have you tried other brands as well. Seems to me in Canada we have access to Vent-Shade as the brand favorite. Need to check that out, but is every one happy having them?
Griswald Report post Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) I ordered a set from Amazon at $46 with free shipping. #194714 They will be here in a few days. I've had them on the last 4 vehicles and also installed them on the wifes past 2 cars. Of course they make noise, it's just like cupping your hand around your ear, the noise is always there, but it now bounces of the vent shade and back towards you. No big deal for the benefit they give you. Edited May 7, 2014 by Griswald 1 Ram reacted to this
DeeCee Report post Posted May 8, 2014 Very happy with mine, (AVS in channel vents installed last July). Nice to have the car vented without worrying about the rain. However, need to remember to put the windows up all the way when washing the car!(voice of experience). 1 thavil reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted May 8, 2014 Has there been any noticeable increase in wind noise or reduction in fuel economy?
DeeCee Report post Posted May 8, 2014 No noticeable wind noise on mine. My gas mileage has been on the gradual rise ever since the car was put in service so I would have to say the vent visors had no negative effect on fuel economy. My lifetime display is now reporting 47.2 mpg after 23k miles. 1 acdii reacted to this
thavil Report post Posted May 9, 2014 No additional wind noise for me either. The only issue I have had with mine is on the driver's side. On some hot days, the plastic vent seems to expand some (or come loose) in the channel causing the window safety feature to kick in when rolling the window up. All I have to do is stick my finger in the channel to move the vent outwards some. The window then raises all the way fine.
DeeCee Report post Posted May 10, 2014 Have not had that problem, so far. Knock on wood! 1 thavil reacted to this
Griswald Report post Posted May 14, 2014 My vent visors showed up on my porch last evening. Took all of about 10 minutes to install them. I have the car at home sitting for the required 24 hours to set the 3M tape glue. Looks fantastic and only extends out from the body about 1/2" Can't really see that causing too much drag or noise. They are much closer to the body than my previous versions, but they were all on trucks.
inco Report post Posted May 14, 2014 Reading through here and looking around for these critters, there are two kinds of visors. One fits on the outside of the window and attaches via tape to the door.. The second type goes up into the window channel and sometimes causes the window to catch. I suspect the latter product is from Ford? I was asked yesterday which one I wanted - the aftermarket product or the Ford product. I didn't think it mattered until I read Griswald's post and he mentioned they stick out from the body. Now bells and alarms are going off because the one that attaches outside to the door frame was problematic on a previous vehicle - hot days and car washes were a bad combo. The heat caused the vent tape to expand and the car wash brush did the rest. I was able to get it back on, but the tape was weak at that spot. Now I'm thinking the window channel insert might be the best way to go unless the price is really worse. I was quoted $106 for all four and now I'm thinking these are the door version and not the channel. Which one is the Ford version? Does it really matter. To me I'm thinking waxing and one more place for the wax to catch if it goes on the door. And wind noise - which one gets less? Okay, I'm done. Now let the masses respond. :)
DeeCee Report post Posted May 15, 2014 I installed the AVS In-Channel Ventvisors purchased online from AutoAnything, not Ford. I paid about $70 for the set of four. Have been on for about a year now and have had zero instances of any window operation problems. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
