Fusion Hybrid Titanium here Tommorrow!

Hello All and let me say that I am soon to be a new owner of the FFH. I just joined this forum yesterday. I just pulled the trigger on this purchase yesterday as well. I have researched the heck out of this vehicle as well as others and my wife and myself finally made the decision yesterday. We told our dealer that we were IN and go ahead and get this vehicle for us.

This is our story:

We currently drive a Hyundai Sonata. Have been very pleased. Am concerned about the price of gas now and in the future. Researched quite a lot and have decided that the FFH would be our choice. My wife wanted luxury. My father drives a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and my wife wanted the luxury while I wanted the low gas bills at the pump.

We decided on a Tuxedo Black/ Black Fusion Hybrid with Moonroof and Navigation. The wife wanted more luxury so we got the 'Driver Assist Package' as well. It has the Blind Spot stuff and the lane keeping system. She wanted it to 'Park' itself as well but we had to draw the line somewhere.

We made the final decision yesterday (after months of research) and told our dealer to go ahead and acquire this vehicle. Today it arrived at our local dealership. I feel sad for all of the stories that I have read about people ordering their car and then waiting not knowing and what not..... perhaps we are blessed. We sure feel lucky based on all of the delays of other folks deliveries.....

Anyhow, tomorrow we shall go to the dealership and figure things out. I still need to get them paid (got approved thru private credit union at 0.74%).... but need to provide the VIN etc......

Also, I'm curious what others are paying ,,,, what is this car worth vs what I'm paying? I don't know as I said before I am brand spanking new....

Thanks

Congrats, and best of luck! I'm biased, but you made a great choice with the Tuxedo Black ;)

Once you have the Driver Assist package, you'll never know how you survived without it.

The BLIS lets you know when someone is in your blindspot, you'll never have another close call when changing lanes; the Lane Departure system has corrected me more than once when I was either changing temp or audio setting, or answering a phone call; and the rain-sensing wipers are awesome - I keep mine always in the "ON" setting, the wipers don't work unless the windshield actually gets wet (just don't forget to turn it off if you run your car through an outside car wash!)

Welcome to the Forum, looking forward to hearing how you like the car.

Thank you for your reply!...

Yes, my Father said that the BLIS was something he couldn't live without now that he has it. The Lane Departure system will be interesting as I have know idea what to expect. Rain sensing wipers I'm sure I'm pretty used to since I think our Sonata has it (although I don't remember ordering it)... but when it starts to rain.... it wipes the windows regardless of the setting I have it on. I guess I'd miss it if I didn't have it.... OR? Maybe I just don't know what it's doing in intermittent mode.

Thank you for the welcome. Will be making a 200 mile trip next week so it will be a nice test of this car. NOTE: I live 3 miles from work so long trips ( more than 40 miles are rare for us.)

Thank you for your reply and welcoming us to the forum.!

The Lane Departure is amazing. How it responds depends on the road you are on and the error you are making. Sometimes the steering wheel will vibrate, sometimes it will pull you back into the lane, and sometimes it will apply pressure to prevent you from steering out of the lane. When I first got the car, I wanted to see what would happen if I let go of the wheel and let it drift. Not only did the car steer back into lane, but I got a warning in the left dash window that said "Keep your hands on the steering wheel"!

Have fun, but make sure you test it out when nobody is around your car! LOL!

FYI, the system allows you to change lanes without intervention if you activate the turn signal.

Cool,

Thank you. I will have to learn the turn signal thing. When test driving I was a little wondering why I didn't have to fully move it to one side or the other.

Thank you guys, once again......

The turn signal in the Fusion is a little different than other cars I have driven in the past. Once engaged, you can push it either way to turn it off. It also features 3-blinks if you just tap the stalk. I use this when I change lanes.

For the Tuxedo Black, I have found a great product to keep the finish clean and shiny. Others on here talk about using the clay bar kit, but when I got my FFH, I had the "Protection Package" applied, and I'm afraid it will void the warrant if I clay my car. So I use Turtle Wax Black Detailer, made specifically for black cars. I applied it on Sunday, it has rained every single day this week, and my car still has no water spots and no road dirt behind the wheel wells or on the bottom of the vehicle. I also use the Turtle Wax Black Tire Coat to keep the tires looking wet. I'm not necessarily a big fan of Turtle Wax, but someone recommended the Black Detailer, and my Wal Mart had them together in a kit.

Welcome and congrats on your new baby :)

You got a great rate !! The lowest I could find was 1.49% and had to set up direct deposit to get it.

As far as pricing goes, I had an X-plan pin so I paid $135 over invoice before rebates ($500+$750), taxes and other fees (registration, title, etc). My MSRP was $37,550 and the X-plan price was $35,302.17. Invoice was $35,167.84.

Nah, DIB is still nicer than the TB!

I had the chance to take a picture of my FFH after using the Turtle Wax Black Detailer - keep in mind, the vehicle was detailed on Sunday and it has rained every day until today, this is what the finish looks like.

I haven't washed mine in 3 weeks. It really doesnt look that bad considering it has been driven to Minnesota and back and almost 2 weeks to and from work, and we had some rain the other day too. The metallic keeps it from looking as bad as a solid black would. I also use the black detailer from TW.

You got the 'Protection Package'. When I told the dealer I was going to pickup soon, they asked if I wanted the 'Super Paint Protection Package' for $400 and it would take them about 3 hours to apply. I told them no thanks..... But when I went to go sign papers I told them they needed to detail and wipe off all of the water spots (they just washed it)... before my wife arrives or she will not be happy.

Soo.......... do you think I should have got this 'Coating' that they were offering? Sounded like a gimmick to me but I don't know......

Thank you

Some may say that those paint treatments are a good thing, but personally I had it done once and it left the finish cloudy after a while, so I will not get them again.

I think you'd be better off spending $100 in gas and going over to IL and paying acdii $200 to do it right, and still be ahead by 100 bucks.

I paid $500 for the Protection package at the time of delivery, but this includes exterior AND interior protection. Plus, when I trade in the car, after I get a trade-in price, I present the certificate I received when I picked up the car, and I get an additional $500 on the trade. Of course, this would only apply if I purchase another Ford/Lincoln vehicle, but if Ford today is so far ahead of Toyota, Honda, Hyundia, Kia and GM on their hybrids, I can't imagine buying one of these other vehicles.

Jeff_h,

Thank you......... So acdii does paint treatments? I had no idea. This might actually work as I am in Indiana and it would be a nice road trip. What kind of work does he do?

Just received our FFH today. Oh, By the way I am brand new so don't know much about the folks posting on here but appreciate everyones input.

Hi Geremy

Just for the fun of it you should ask acdii but Jeff might have played a joke on you. Acdii is the master of Zaino treatments and he got a few of us hooked on this awesome stuff as well but he was only thinking adding car treatment service as business venture.

No I don't believe acdii has a side business to do this, was somewhat of a joke but more so making the point that I'd rather trust my money to someone that appears to have a real passion for doing the job right over someone at the dealer who may or may not share that level of conscientiousness.

Detailing the car isn't something that requires mechanical or electrical expertise. acdii left detailed instructions in another thread

http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6924-zaino-how-to/?hl=zaino

Personally, I prefer to do things like this myself, i know its been done carefully, plus it saves money. It's up to you, obviously, but I'd do it myself.

OK, Everybody.... so now I am going to have to research Zaino treatment and the Black Detailing thing at WalMart.

I do have a question....... How do you guys 'quote' just a portion of someone's post instead of having to quote the entire post. Also, how do you add your car to the bottom of your post and that 'Fuelly' thingy....

I would like to add mine.

Thanks

To quote only part of someone's prior post, click on the "Quote" button, then delete the portion of the quote that you want removed.

To add a fuelly signature to your posts, you first need to enroll with the fuelly site. Go to www.fuelly.com, and register with them.

Then use this link:

http://www.fuelly.com/faq/23/Fuelly-forum-signature-badge

to use your fuelly info as your forum signature.

Just delete the portions you don't want between the [quot ] brackets.

On the Fuelly signature just search for "Fuelly signature" there is a forum "Fuelly what is that" you will find the explanation in there. ( or in djminfll post ;-) )

As for Zaino read acdii's thread "Zaino how to..."

Have you read the pinned new members thread? You will find a lot of links to questions that are like FAQs for this forum.
