Usually they let us know about approaching cold fronts, but I suspect their broadcast towers melted last week in 106 in NW Houston, so no warning of this cold front.

It sure feels good, although I've been waiting for the weather to clear so that we can attempt to set a new coast to coast record in aviation. If you look at the radar there are storms on both sides of the country. We're hoping to take off from Los Angeles next Monday...until then, I'm gonna enjoy the cool evenings here in North Texas.

wow...that would be great fun!!!! Another cool morning in texas ( <70 deg) and saw a another 4 to 5 mpg increase in my MPG to work.....Its a short 7 mile commute. Had climate off

Last week when it was ungodly hot I was seeing better mpgs than the weeks before but I attribute that to everyone else getting heat exhaustion and driving slow on the freeways, which benefits my mileage greatly.

 

Had tint applied yesterday so hopefully when I'm running short errands around town the car won't heat up in the sun so quickly. Looking to get a sun screen soon.

Keep your heat will ya! It has been so nice here in the past and now the heat and humidity has arrived! YUCK! I dont mind heat so much as I hate humidity. I would rather be in LV heat than the crap we get with the humidity.

whooo hooo...cooler weather again in texas.....got 65 mpg on my route home for lunch....about 6.5 miles......started out with a high SOC..... no AC used.....maybe 150' elevation change ......love it!

Be careful with your 'druthers'. Although it's a 'dry' heat, if you are in direct sun, those 100+ temps will literally boil your brains. If you can find shade and a nice breeze, it does become just bearable.

I pitty you nick...I was in vegas for the 4th of july.....my first time and it was unreal!! over 100 in the early morning hours!!! what kind of mileage are you getting out there running the AC wide open all the time??

Actually, I'm waiting til I can end the lease on my MKS. When I do, I want to get into an MKZ hybrid. I poke around here as there is little info at the MKZ forum.

BTW, I get anywhere from 20 to 26 mpg depending mostly on traffic. On trips to WI, we generally get 25 or 26mpg. Driving around Vegas, sometimes as little as 20. Going through the Rockies has less effect than the poorly timed lights in Vegas.

I was in Vegas last August with my F150 and actually turned off the air and drove with the windows down in the 110+ heat and loved it. Of course the truck had cooled seats so my butt and back stayed cool, but still enjoyed it.

 

Since I cant handle very much sun due to sun poisoning when I was 11, I avoid being in the sun as much as possible. Even a very light burn makes me sick, and I can get a burn in 10 minutes. If I were to be out in full sun without sunscreen, in 30 minutes I would be utterly sick!

 

I envy all those who can be out in the sun and enjoy it.

 

It is hot and humid now, so a few chores I need to get done, will have to wait, I dont know what it is about humid days, but those damned bugs get the most annoying when its like this.
