2k3 Mach Report post Posted October 14, 2006 Okay... I posted this over a year ago, and now I'm more confused on the antenna location for the '07. I see 2007's with both the glass antenna, and a new roof mounted antenna. I thought maybe the roof mounted was for Sirius also, but I see 2007's with the glass antenna AND a separate sirius mounted antenna on the roof. Was the roof mounted antenna combo (I'm assuming it does both radio and Sirius) a post Job 1 change for the 2007 model year?

yeloxr7 Report post Posted May 15, 2007 Some $%^(*& swiped the antenna off my 2007 Fusion so now all I have is the stupid box. Ford wants $35.00 for a new mast, and the aftermarket ones don't fit. It hasn't affected the radio reception too much......

Meelaan Report post Posted May 31, 2007 $35 sounds like the price for the whole antenna unit, not the price for just the wire (mast) part. And don't forget installation charges. Could be at least an hour of labor, huh? Or maybe if they want to play nice they'll forgive the labor. Let's hope so.

Meelaan Report post Posted May 31, 2007 To be sure you are joking, right? LOL. So, what you're vaguely trying to say is that you think they'll charge some labor to replace the broken antenna?

Isresistancefutile? Report post Posted November 30, 2007 where and how much for the more attractive version? Specifically, is there an online, aftermarket, source for parts like this?
FusionFanatic Report post Posted December 1, 2007 where and how much for the more attractive version? Specifically, is there an online, aftermarket, source for parts like this?it's a dealer-only part so the price depends on what the dealer wants to sell it for. any ford , Lincoln, or mercury dealer should be able to order parts for all the ford brands (just call them for a price) there are some dealers which allow you to purchase parts online. I bought my MKZ shark fin at TeamFordParts.com they charge $46.65 for it there. if the link doesn't work then select 2007 lincoln MKZ > electrical > antenna > base. it's not the same antenna as the Fusion. it is Sirius ONLY, there is no FM receiver inside it, so you have to keep to Fusion's "insides" and just swap the outer casing. if you live in the city then you're FM reception won't change much without the mast, but if you live far away from the station transmitters then you may need to extend the antenna. I did this on mine by crimping a male flat terminal on some speaker wire and connecting it to the mast connector (female terminal). then drilled a hole through the antenna connector (where the factory Sirius connection would have been) and passed the wire through that, my reception is even better now than it was with the ugly Fusion antenna :) :shift:
FusionFanatic Report post Posted December 2, 2007 here are a couple pics of my Fusion with an MKZ antenna, in case anybody is wondering what it would look like if they did it. I only comes in flat black (like the Fusion mast antenna), so you'll have to paint it if you want it to look good. if you've ever tried to paint plastic before, you'll know that you can't use just any paint. enamel paints are pretty much the only kind that will stick. I used Krylon Fusion [gloss black] and then sprayed clear lacquer over the paint after it cured. it matches the paint pretty good and it looks ten times better than the ugly Fusion mast antenna. :shift:

FusionFanatic Report post Posted December 8, 2007 if your reception was fine, then why bother? it looks better without the mast. it would be funny to see what the dealer would charge to "install" the mast. it literally takes about 5 seconds to install (since it simply screws in) but they would charge a minimum 1 hour labor rate ($90/hr?) Ange Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Hey FusionFanatic...I like your shark fin antenna. Can you please elaborate more on the crimping the wire deal. Is the wire coiled up and stuffed under the shark fin housing? I am curious to know if I can do anything about the radio reception in my 2008 Fusion. I have some sort of antenna on top of the car, nothing sticks out. I don't know if I can put something else on it or not. The reception is horrible and I love my radio. Any suggestions? Hi Ange. :D It sounds as though you may have a mast antenna, and that the mast has been stolen, broken off, or the Dealer forgot to install it when you purchased your Fusion. If you have friend or neighbor who is "car knowledgeable", ask them if it looks as though the mast is missing. If you don't have anyone you can ask, make a stop at your Dealers Service Department, and ask them to take a look. Let us know how you make out. Good luck! :beerchug:

I looked this morning and just saw a round plastic piece over the opening. I am going to run by the dealer today. My father told me they probably didn't install it. I will let you know how it goes later today. Thanks so much for the prompt response. I don't like not getting to hear the radio (except for a few channels).
