I have EV+ activated. How can I tell when it goes into . that mode and recognizes my address?

It looks likes the following picture.

There is a little "+" sign next to EV, it creates a circle around a location with multiple ignition cycles. It appears whenever you enter the circle and should last until you get home. If you started EV+ on a lower then usual SOC it might be that the ICE jumps in to charge the HVB to get you home.

On your left display, EV displays in blue when in that mode. EV+ will show in the same position on your display about .5 miles from your house if you aren't speeding up too fast at that time.

thanks!. I don't think it has recognized my address yet.

You can probably help a bit if you get into your car and start it for a few seconds. Otherwise patience is a virtue with our cars just like learning how to work the throttle to stay in EV. ;-)

Mine learned my house in 2 days, but hasnt learned my work yet. It is set using key cycles, since I did quite a few the first day when checking things out.

Dude that's because you are never there -- you are always cleaning/polishing the car or on the forum.

I believe it takes 11 key cycles to learn an address someone previously posted

I don't think that's true.

Mine has still not learned my work after a month. Thats about 25-30 key cycles as sometimes I drive to lunch.

It learned my home in 1 or 2 days.

Unless maybe there is some sort of limitation on needing to park at an addressable location. The parking lot at work is "off road".

My car lost my work as a EV+ location. Has that ever happened to anyone else?

I started parking in a parking garage (to keep it out of the sun & heat), so I have a layer of cement on top of me when I turn off the ignition. That's the only explanation for it losing EV+ @ work. It still knows my home and dealership as EV+, so I know the system didn't rest.

The steel grid in the reinforced concrete may be blocking the signal from the GPS satellites.

If it can't receive from at least three satellites it can't compute its location.

Sure, but since the car already knew the EV+ location it should turn on EV+ on the way to the parking garage (or at least it used to). So why did it lose the EV+ location? It still knows my dealer and I don't stop there on a regular basis. If the car loses EV+ locations over time if you don't go there, I would think it would lose the dealership before my work, right?

I lost EV+ for home and work when I reset my lifetime average two weeks ago. Last night, I turned off EV+ mode and then turned it back on. Half a mile from the house today, EV+ started working again.

Mine learned my house after a couple of days. It took about a week to learn where I work. It goes into EV+ mode literally every time I get within about 1/2 mile from the house, but only goes into EV+ mode 20-25% of the time when I arrive at work. I take the same route every day, and park in the same spot every day, but more often than not, it doesn't go into EV+ mode. Not sure why...

I drove past my dealer last weekend and EV+ did NOT come on for the first time since I bought it. Whoohoo!

Hopefully that means a spot has opened up for work now.

So what good does EV+ do me overall? It improves the mileage on the trip home a little, but doesn't it do that at the expense of making me start the next trip from home with a discharged HVB, thus decreasing the mileage on that leg?

Does everyone on this forum, leave EV+ enabled?

Yes I have mine enabled but I was planning to do a little test without EV+ because of the deep discharge coming home. Sometimes it's so low that the ICE has to kick back in.

For me it makes no difference since coming home I am doing 55 and the slowing down to turn into my drive recharges it. On my way to work, I dont need no stinking EV+ since it is 99.9% EV for almost 2 miles. The last short leg is all 25 MPH with a long downhill to get a 70% charge on the pack and by the time I reach my office its down to 40%. Two stops, and a quick burst of ICE to get up to speed, and its all EV from there.

I'm not so sure EV+ only uses key cycles. This is from a Ford article...

"When engaged, EV+ uses onboard GPS equipment and predictive software algorithms written by Frederick and Smith to learn the latitude and longitude of a vehicle and identify locations that are visited on a frequent basis, such as home and work. The feature can be disabled and the data erased at the push of a button."

My car is parked in a parking garage 2 levels underground at home and it has never lost the EV+ setting for that location. So I'm thinking the garage isn't an issue.
