Ford Motor Company and Hybrid EMF concens - Very happy

Hello,

 

Hundreds of posts and complaints about Toyota, Lexus and Tesla electric powered vehicles had me concerned about EMF levels in electrified vehicles. Many people complain about headaches, pinching sensations, fatigue and other symptoms consistent with high electromagnetic radiation exposure. My self - after driving a Leaf or Prius have felt interesting sensations in my feet like a pinch or prick typically during hard acceleration or deceleration.

 

My kudos and thanks go out to the engineer and engineering team responsible for taking Electromagnetic Radiation safety seriously at Ford Motor Company. After doing some snooping online I've found very interesting materials surrounding Ford's engineering of electrified vehicles.

 

I'll start off with the 2009 Fusion Hybrid. After looking at pictures of the engine bay, I couldn't figure out why Ford would place the inverter so far from the electric motor. The only logical reasoning I could deduce was to reduce occupant and driver radiation exposure. The inverter is placed precariously in the front right portion of the engine compartment - as far as it possibly could be from the driver.

 

 

 

Looking at a competing technology, the Hybrid Synergy Drive its easy to see the problem and the lack of effort on Toyota's part to protect occupants from Electromagnetic Radiation. Toyota is a cheap company and values reduction in vehicle weight more than occupant safety. Take a look at typical shielding around the high voltage cabling:

 

 

You can count the strands of thin wiring sparsely covering the high voltage cables.

 

Now we move onto the Ford Fusion Hybrid - a fantastic job with thick dense braided wiring surrounding the high voltage cables.

Just absolutely fantastic. I praise Ford for taking the time, effort and expense to properly keep occupants - their customers - safe from the real dangers and discomforts of high Electromagnetic Radiation exposure.

Wow, um, how do I put this.

 

That shielding is not to protect you. It is to protect the wires from induced charges. By running a ground around the wires you get proper signals and no ground loops.

 

If it was to protect the passengers, they'd simply build a Faraday Cage around the passengers and be done with it.

 

Seriously you're exposed to more radiation cooking popcorn. People claim all sorts of things, real or imagined. The posts you're referring to can be explained by the placebo effect.
