kuzzi Report post Posted June 6, 2013 I need to correct some things I said earlier. I actually cracked open a book and learned myself something. See this post: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6584-gas-prices/?p=56132
MXGOLF Report post Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) I decided to try plus this tank fill up. Did 12 gallons leaving 1.5 reserve. Averaged 35.4 that last tank. Not much better but the weather has been warmer and I think that helps. Just town driving nothing too far on a freeway. lifetime is 33.8. Right after a fill up the MPG is way better but it depends on weather I drive any hills or have long down hills as to how long it takes to drop back to the normal 33 or so. Sometimes it's really hard to drive my FFH in traffic and not suck the mileage. My Fuelly is different from what the car says. My Fuelly is different from what the car says.Yah, i tried the higher octane fuel as well and it didnt make a difference. If you driving in heavy traffic all the time then your mpg will bad period because of the constant acceleration and stopping no matter how slow you do it. My Fuelly is different from what the car says.I I know this isn't the correct forum but I have a 2013 MKZ Hybrid which have the same powertrain. The MKZ is a much heavier car and with the panoramic roof, I am losing about 2-4mpg due to weight factor. I have about 1500miles on it so far and my MPG is increasing every fill up. Here is my fuelly info http://www.fuelly.com/driver/serraph/mkz and I live in Washington. I fill up at the same station every time and if possible same pump. I hope this gives you some sort of comparison. 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
Guardian_Bob Report post Posted June 19, 2013 So I think I've finally broken in my car. Yesterday morning, 44.9 MPG, afternoon 45.3 and this morning: 3 kuzzi, corncobs and jeff_h reacted to this
MXGOLF Report post Posted June 19, 2013 Good looking MKZ I must say! I still think my batteries are not up to snuff but can't prove it by Ford. Guardian Bob that's what we should be getting much better good for you. I really am disappointed in my mileage no question about that just wish there was something to do about it. I just want to drive and not worry about the mileage but I did buy it expecting over 40 mpg which I should expect all the time not just in the heat of summer. Mine won't even do that. :(
clummus Report post Posted June 19, 2013 I only have 1500 on mine, but no matter how hard I try I can't get better than 40 yet. really hope...that changes.
MXGOLF Report post Posted June 20, 2013 Unfortunutly it really takes a lot of work and eye balling the dash board to get good mileage out of this hybrid. I am really not sure if it's worth it. Especially since I am not getting any where near the MPG it's supposed to. The car is beautiful, comfortable but I just want to drive it and not have to eye ball the dash the whole time I am driving. I know the Prius is not near the work to get there stated mileage and they do get the stated mileage or pretty darn close. I was a Toyota guy for years and years but the Prius just is bland and unappealing to me. Sorry for beating a dead horse just kind of frustrating is all. DeeCee Report post Posted June 21, 2013 Not a lot of work for me. I mostly use Ecco Cruise set at the prevailing speed limit and when on the interstates I set it at 68 mph. My last tank was 50.6 mpg and my lifetime average is just over 45. I do not continually eyeball the displays. 2 jeff_h and corncobs reacted to this
djminfll Report post Posted June 21, 2013 I have found that what kills my mileage is going on local streets where I keep having to stop for red lights and stop signs. When I do a lot of driving in these conditions, I usually end up in the mid to upper 30's. But when I use ACC and drive on streets with "progressive" lighting, meaning the lights are green in succession so I don't have to stop, the mileage jumps up. I had to go to my dad's house earlier, on my drive home with progressive traffic lights and 5 miles on the highway at 65mph, I did a total of 16.6 miles and achieved 49.6mpg. If I had a second car to use on little trips to the supermarket, etc, where the car barely has a chance to get in EV mode, my overall mpg would be in the upper 40's, but as it is, on fuelly.com I am still at under 43mpg.
