MXGOLF Report post Posted May 23, 2013 I just was wondering if there is anyone on this forum in Oregon or SW Washington who has this car? I would like to know what your mileage is and if you are having any problems trying to get descent mileage. My car is only going to be a 33-36 mpg car and that's it. I have tried everything to get 40+ mpg and it won't happen but on a few downhill trips. It's been really frustrating. The weather even was hot for a couple of weeks and got to 37 mpg average for a few days. It seems like with the hills around here my car just won't stay in the EV mode at all. My car doesn't seem to charge very rapidly and when fully charged runs down fairly quickly. Ford has been no help on this. Thanks for any help you folks can give me. I would like to maybe have someone else drive my car and see if there is the same or different. Thanks,

I was in an underpowered rental car and had to keep running it hard to keep up the speed. It was a small Mazda sedan and I barely cracked 25mpg the whole trip. Thanks,We will be traveling through Washington in June, but just down from Vancouver through Seattle and then back east toward Minnesota. I don't know if anything in that area will be of help to you or not... 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
SalvadorAssumpcao Report post Posted May 23, 2013 (edited) Not exactly what you're looking for, perhaps, but here it goes...I live a bit further north. Woodinville, a suburb northeast of Seattle. Weather should be similar. As for the hilliness, my usual routes involve (often multiple) 300-500 ft hills. In fact, just leaving my house is about 350ft elevation change (uphill coming back). Not sure how that compares to your routes. My lifetime (3500 miles) per computer is 41.9 mpg. Most recent tank 45.6 mpg. Current tank a little over 46 mpg. As for the highlighted....I just was wondering if there is anyone on this forum in Oregon or SW Washington who has this car? corncobs Report post Posted May 23, 2013 You could try following thread and compare trip layout. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6713-trip-elevation-mapping/?do=findComment&comment=54011 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted May 23, 2013 Sounds like you got the twin to the one I had. Very inconsistent. Sometimes I would get a 41 MPG trip, then a 31 MPG trip, no changes other than the day of the week.
SalvadorAssumpcao Report post Posted May 23, 2013 MXGOLF, I can't reply to private messages yet, so posting some additional thoughts - and also increasing my post count, so maybe soon I will be able to reply to PMs... It does sound like something is not quite right with your car. From your description, it seems the HV battery is "weaker" than it should be. For example, like I said I live on a hill. At the bottom of that hill, my usual route south involves an initially flat county road with no stop signs for about 1.5 miles. With temp > 50F, no headwinds and if my battery gets to the bottom of the hill > 90% charged, I always make to that stop sign on EV only, usually with a little battery to spare. 40mph constant speed, with no traffic. For routes that have a significant elevation loss (plenty of routes start on a hill and continue for up to 10 miles on a valley, with about 400-500 ft net elevation loss), if I get less than 50 mpg, I am disappointed.Lots of 60s mpg and even a 70 the other day (didn't think was possible, my previous best on that route was 63 mpg). 3 MXGOLF, hybridbear and corncobs reacted to this
wazzul Report post Posted May 24, 2013 MX I live in Keizer and commute to Beaverton everyday. Only have a 3 week sample size in my MyTi and most of my driving is on I5 at 65-72mph. I've noticed that rain and colder weather are a major drain on mpg's, this past week I've dropped 3-4 mpg on my trip average. That being said for short trips It's all over the place and it has much to do with the battery being warm or not. If it's cold the car doesn't run in EV so mpg is VERY low, but if you take a shorter trip when the battery is warm, EV mode should be available right away and you'll be able to achieve great mpg's (usually). All in all my computer is showing an average of about 37, since I've only fueled up 2x my Fuelly score is a little better than what the computer says. We will see as I'm going to go fill up again in just a few minutes. 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
MXGOLF Report post Posted May 24, 2013 Thanks wazzul. Sounds like mine. We also have crappy gas in Oregon. At least that's what I have been told. I sure like the color of yours. The ice storm is sure a great color also the color of mine. We will see what happens this summer. We had those two weeks of 80+ temps and I did get 3 mpg better but still not the 47 she is supposed to get.
