okaydave Report post Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) I picked up my Hy Ti last night. It only took 8 weeks from order to delivery. The car is awesome. I clay bared it today and put on two coats of Zaino. There was only one minor issue with a small hole in the cneter console armrest. They will be taking car of it soon. I also put in my Weather Tech mats. They are perfect. milleron Report post Posted May 12, 2013 How much do you charge to clay bar a car?? :) You and I both live in Columbus, OH. My car was built 3 days before yours and was delivered 12 days before. Mine actually arrived at the dealer here in northern Columbus just 48 hours after it rolled into the Detroit area by rail. That said, mine has already been undriveable and/or in the shop for 6 days. First there was a sensor for the electric coolant pump that had to be waterproofed, but that may have been incorrect because a week later, the entire water pump went bad, and that took five days to get fixed. So I had better luck with transportation, but I hope that you have better luck with reliability. It was funny, as I was clay barring my car, I thought I should do this on this n the side. The clay bar and two coats of Zaino took me about four-five hours. Then I thought I would have to charge about $400 per car if it would be worth my time and effort. I don't think many people would want to pay that much. Plus, I dont have much time with two kids and all of their sports. I think mine sat up in the Detroit area for a few days, then thye had to deliver it to Johnstown. I live in Dublin, but went out to Coughlin Ford. they war great. That is too bad on the pump, hopefully, that is the only issue! Did you go to the Ford dealership on Sawmill? milleron Report post Posted May 12, 2013 YUp, went to Germain @ Sawmill & 270. Never dealt with Ford before, so I knew nothing about the various dealer options, but Germain is so close to home that I chose them.I might actually pay a pro $400 for that job, but, probably like you, I don't know any place I'd trust to do it. I'll therefore be doing it myself next weekend after the Zaino shipment arrives. My arm's sore already just thinking about it.Have a ball with your new car! Why does it take five days to change out a water pump?
milleron Report post Posted May 12, 2013 The car went out on a Sunday, and didn't get into the dealer until after work on Monday. Then they had to order the part. They don't have any parts in stock because their parts department burned down along with the old service area. Luckily, the new service area was already finished, but they have to order all their parts until the new building's finished and restocked. So, it was five days from "powertrain failure" idiot light until it was ready for pickup. It might have been done in one day if the timing had been perfect, but, like you say, hopefully that's the last thing that'll go wrong. My 2003 Accord had it's rack-and-pinion gear go out about a month after delivery. I was in a rental for two weeks over that, but it's the last mechanical problem that vehicle has ever had, and it still runs like new. Hoping for the same luck with the Fusion, now hat we're through the burn-in, even if not the break-in.
