Why I hate Chicago! Oh the NOISE! What is with these morons laying on their horns all the time? Oh the stink! Sewer smell every so often. 21 years living here was too many years! Can't wait to get back home. Sitting on a train waiting to leave Olgvie, and rolling out as I type this!

Roger the above acdii. Some friends ask why we never venture into the Loop. I always reply that the only way I'd go there is by boat (every year we do the what boaters call the "Chicago Loop." It takes us thru the heart of downtown Chicago via the Chicago river and into Lake Michigan by way of the Chicago locks.) Too many years of living in, driving, working and commuting in Chicago have left me with a strong desire never to set foot in downtown Chicago again. I can't agree with you more. Don't get me started on the politics.

I lived in Chicago from 1988-1991 and I loved it! I lived in the Park Place building ( it was still a rental, not condos like it is now) on Irving Park Rd and Lake Shore Drive. I could look down into Wrigley Field from my living room window. I would never have left voluntarily, but my office closed and I was transferred to our Houston office. That's a whole 'nother story, hated Houston. I've been in Ft. Lauderdale since 1993, but if the housing market ever picks up here, I will sell the house here and move to Phoenix, AZ.

I love Chicago too but visitor guide for 2 sometimes 3 times a year gets old.

Compared to NYC Chicago is a lot cleaner just based on the newer city layout planning.

Last year we went up Sears tower 3x more often than some people in their entire lifetime.

See that funky building with the curved roofs right above the building with the white roof in the sears tower picture? Thats Ogilvie I was using my iphone and it made a mess of my post.

For all of you who visit Chicago in Crook county IL and loved it, I can only say that Chicago is a nice place to say "I use to live there". Please note that most everybody that lives in northeast IL says they are from Chicago, which inflates the population by about 4 million, and often say they like the city. Those folks may only visit the city a couple times a year.

 

My youngest brother has lived in the city all of his life, except for 4 years in Mexico City, and he loves Chicago. Mexico City has air pollution so thick they issue license plates that only permit drivers to legally drive their cars every other day (The way around this is to buy two used cars instead of one new car.) I figure when he compares the two cities he might think fondly about Chicago.

Love the glass floor they built. Last time I was there they were still building it.
