mokee Report post Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) In a recent thread, "Added an Ultra Gauge" at http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6304-added-an-ultra-gauge/, ScanGauge II X-Gauge codes came up. ScanGauge IIs are used by many hybrid, RV and trailer boat owners to monitor facts about fuel usage, but can also monitor more "techie" type data like various temps, rpms, volts and etcetera. I emailed support at Linear Logic, maker of ScanGauge II, asking about the ScanGauge X-Gauge codes for the 2013 FFH. Many thanks to Crisr for e-mailing back the codes. Here they are for anyone interested. I haven't programed my ScanGauge II X-Gauge (it's in another vehicle 700 miles from home), so I can't say if the codes work or not. I sure would be interested in finding out if they work. I have e-mailed Linear Logic to ask for the XGauge codes for the 2013 FFH and am waiting to hear back. Assuming they send the same list that Mokee received I'll let them know exactly which ones don't work and hopefully we can get this figured out. The ones that I have confirmed do work are the ones remaining in the quote above. I haven't tried all of them, but I have tried a variety from the other sections, mostly relating to temperature and information about the electric motor/generators, none of them worked. This is a quote from a C-Max Hybrid owner on the Hybrid ForumI have purposely made the name (NAM:) different on both for clarity. I believe that SOC code displays the actual state of charge for the battery and the SoC code displays "useful" charge. I have read where to extend the life of batteries, hybrids don't use all the capacity of their batteries. In other words, it doesn't charge it to 100% and discharge it to 0%. I have been running both gauges simultaneously on my ScanGauge for a few days and this is what I have found: When SoC reads 100 - SOC reads 69.7When SoC reads 80 - SOC reads 62.1When SoC reads 70 - SOC reads 58.0When SoC reads 50 - SOC reads 50.4When SoC reads 30 - SOC reads 42.7 This is pretty close to linear, with each 1% on SoC = 0.38 on SOC. If I do my math right that would mean that the C-Max Hybrid keeps its battery charge between 31.5% and 69.7%. So it uses just over 38% of its capacity. So this backs up what I read about Hybrids not using the full capacity of the batteries. Any thought on this? BTW, the SoC code reflects the level of charge that the C-Max battery icon shows.I further tested his observations and plotted a regression equation in Excel. jmellen Report post Posted January 12, 2014 I did not see any info for MG2. Did I miss it? Is MG1 ever used as a motor other than to start the ice. That is, does it sometimes work in conjunction with MG2 to power the wheels? If it does not then it must freewheel to 'keep up' with MG2 due to the link through the planetary gear.General question, does it seem like Scan Guage II will be useful for the 2014/2014 FFH to understand what is going on technically? I asked Ashley about this and the official Ford response is that they will not provide any information about XGauge codes. acdii Report post Posted January 13, 2014 I believe MG1 becomes a generator once ICE is running. What I saw tonight when I programmed that number was -1900 while sitting in my driveway. The ignition was on and the battery graphic indicated about 50% charge. As I sat there the negative number slowly increased like -1902, -1903, -1905... I double checked my entering of the data for SOC in X gauges on the SG II. I am puzzled. Any thoughts? Considering that this is proprietary Ford software, the decision was made by those who have reverse engineered codes that they will not be posted to the internet. Linear Logic has also reverse engineered more codes. You can contact them via their website to request the data they have.
