fusionTX Report post Posted April 21, 2013 For all the information the Fusion Hybrd provides, I find it is missing a couple of indicators that would be very useful. Or maybe I just don't know how to access this information. One is a tank fuel eonomy. It seems to have the car compute the current gas tank fuel economy, I have to manually reset one of the trip computers. The car should be abe to spew out tank average autoatically. Te second thing missing is the current trip fuel economy. You get the numbers at the end of the trip, but no live updates. I also find having to switch between little screens to find the informtion you need a bit cumbersome and maybe even dangerous while you are driving. Why not take advantage of the nice 8 inch navigation display, for those that have it, and provide some nicer color graphics. 1 acdii reacted to this

It will do just what you listed here. I agree though, having it on the MFT would be ideal.

I agree though, having it on the MFT would be ideal.Yeah, I don't know why the lifetime average is shown everywhere. It changes the least of all the averages of interest. I'd rather see tank and current trip averages on most screens, and access lifetime average when I want to see it.
Eliotmal Report post Posted April 22, 2013 Not sure if this is what you are asking about, but you can have the trip 1 and 2 computers display "more information" including the MPG for that trip. You need to choose it though.(I don't remember off hand, but I think if you press the right button, of the 4 way, while displaying the trip computer you will get the option). You still have to switch to thatscreen to get it to show if you are on the display (empower etc...). I reset trip 1 each time I fill up and so I can get the current mpg from the last fillup throughout that tank.

I just think the tank average should be computed and displayed by the car automatically and we should not have to use one of the trip computers to compute the tank average. Trip computers are great to have too. I used both of them recently to measure My fuel efficiency for two long stretches of a trip. It would be nice if I didn't have to use them for tank average too. milleron Report post Posted April 27, 2013 I do know what you mean. My 2003 Accord has the average for the current tank in its "Info" display. It also retains the distance traveled and the mileage for the immediately-previous tank of gas as well. It knows when its tank has been refilled, transfers the current numbers to its history, and starts over again from zero miles driven and zero hours. Very handy, and I miss that feature in my FFH. fusionTX Report post Posted May 11, 2013 A few weeks with my FFH, I I have found workarounds for some of my complaints in this area. Current trip MPG-----------------------In my Camry Hybrid, I could see the MPG for the trip as it progressed. This was useful, because it gave you an indication of how the MPG was affected every step of the way. With the Fusion, you are told the trip MPG once the trip is over. The workaround for the Fusion is to reset your Avg MPG before every trip you care to monitor. A bit of a pain, but it works. Go to "Inform" screen and reset it there. It is very interesting to watch the MPG fluctuate during your trip. I'Ve gotten it to triple digits or close on some trips on back roads. If you do it before you start driving, the Avg MPG will match the trip MPG displayed when you turn the car off. Tank MPG--------------For the tank MPG, I use one of the trip computers to monitor. Reset a trip computer after filling the tank. These are things Ford could easily remedy and which would be very useful, but there are workarounds with the functionality provided

I usually keep it at 6 minute intervals and it is very useful to get a feel for the current trip economy, especially since it plots a line across the graph of the average since last reset. Since I reset that avg at each fill up I can see how my current trip compares to the tank avg. I also tend to pay attention to what the tank avg is when I start the car and then I can see if it has gone up or down while driving to get a feel for the trip. I have become quite adept at switching screens without looking down by the feel of the buttons. I'm sure you will too with time

I like my solution because I can keep the display on Empower, which is by far, the most useful display. And I can see the current trip MPG on that same screen if I reset the Avg MPG before embarking. The Empower screen is something my Camry did not have. Not sure if newer Camry hybrid models have something similar, but I find Empower to be a great resource. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
fusionTX Report post Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Here is an example of the type of information and graphics the Fusion could add to MFT 8" screen. This graph is similar to the Fusion's bar graph, but spans your last 30 minutes. Each bar is one minute. Different colors are different trips. The yellow bar graph was my commute to work in The Camry Hybrid. You can see, even though the 2007 Camry could only go to 40 MPH in EV,it was easy to get instant readouts in the 40s and 50s at highway speeds, just by letting off a little on the accelerator after reaching your cruising speed. The 60MPG readouts are when I am actually in EV mode on an access road close to work. acdii Report post Posted May 12, 2013 Thats what I see in the 2010, only it doesnt have the color or previous unless I set it to 60 minutes. Then the previous is ghosted. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
