neod192 Report post Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) I was chatting with Rebecca @ Ford and she provided a way to reset MyFord Touch without restoring it to the factory defaults and losing the presets, connections, etc. "Download this to an empty USB flash drive and keep it in your car:http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.htmlIt comes from one of our updates and has a delayed reboot file on it. One of our customers did all the "dirty work" and made it accessible on that site. I have confirmed that it's safe to use. It's as good as a master reset without setting everything back to factory defaults."When you download this, remember to extract it directly to the root of the flash drive. Don't extract it to the PC and copy it to the flash drive. jeff_h Report post Posted April 20, 2013 I can corroborate the above fix for my car anyway, as neod192 provided it to me via PM after my sync had stopped talking or listening to me once and forced me to do a 'master reset' -- which resets EVERYTHING to factory defaults and thus wipes out phone pairing and saved navigation points, etc. See the thread on BOF about "sync stopped talking". So when it happened again a month or so later, I made another post in that BOF thread and neod192 provided me the info, I tried the first time and got an error 'application failed to run' -- along with the zip file for the reboot app there is a readme.txt file which tells you to extract the zip directly to the flash drive rather than extract to PC and copy to flash drive. If you don't extract directly to flash drive you will get the error message and that's why the above post has the caveat to make sure you do so. So after extracting directly to flash drive, the app did exactly what it said, rebooted sync so the lady started talking and listening again, but had no effect on the phone pairing or the locations that I had saved in navigation. 2 neod192 and GrySql reacted to this

Thank you everyone for your responses! Looking at the files that were extracted onto the flash drive - extract directly onto flash drive rather than extract to a folder on PC and copy over to flash drive1) Readme (text file) 2) DelayedReboot (zip file)3) autoinstall (LST file)
dagactor Report post Posted May 1, 2013 Yup, not connecting properly. Same thing as when I push the settings button, the screen flickers and then doesn't change. I'm gonna take the car in tomorrow morning. So glad I have to do this less than a week after purchase.
jeff_h Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Yeah I'm not thrilled with this version of Sync... my 2010 had Sync v3.0 and then 3.1 (I think), probably seem like ancient versions now but they worked perfectly every day I had the car.
fusionTX Report post Posted May 4, 2013 The flash drive worked for me too. I've lost phone connectivity twice. The first time it seemed to come back on its own. The next time,I used the download and it worked great.the instructions are a it confusing. It took me a couple of tries to see the reboot.
acdii Report post Posted May 5, 2013 So far no issues with 3.5.1 MFT in the Flex, and its identical to the Fusion except the hybrid screen.
neod192 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 For some reason, every once in a while SYNC will not act as a bluetooth speaker for the phone (both mine and my wife's). It would make the call, but no sounds gets passed through. I tried the reset method above yesterday and it worked. I still have to check if it fixed the problem :) Anyone else has similar issues with theirs?
corncobs Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Could that be a setting in you phone how the call gets patched? On my iPhone I see 3 choises sync/iPhone/speaker it happened a few times that I made a phone call thru the phone and sync didn't pick it up only after I selected it on the screen. Definitely a SYNC issue.
fusionTX Report post Posted May 18, 2013 Had to resort to this yet again. This is the third time sync loses its ability to connect to my phone in 5 1/2 weeks of ownership.
jeff_h Report post Posted May 18, 2013 Had to resort to this yet again. This is the third time sync loses its ability to connect to my phone in 5 1/2 weeks of ownership. Mine has lost its voice twice, tried to think of the conditions that were present right before it happened. Pretty sure I was using navigation each time, and think I was also using iPod through USB at the time too... though did that today and no problems. I wish I could go back to the sync in my 2010, was much more stable if you ask me.

When I got back in the car after my phone guided me to where I was going, it failed to connect to my phone or my partner's. This morning I was entering an address in the car's navigation, while the car said "connecting". It never did connect. Maybe we need to wait until phone connects before trying to use the navigation. jeff_h Report post Posted June 8, 2013 (edited) I wish I didn't have to bump this topic, but she stopped talking and listening to me yet again, this was the third time. It happened yesterday, where I had switched from listening to Sirius to iPod on USB, and before I shut if off I had switched back to Sirius for the last 20 minutes of the trip (iPod still plugged in) and shut off the car when I got home. Went back out a couple hours later, drove away from the house while still on Sirius, hit the button on steering wheel to use the voice command, the "listening" icon showed on the bottom left corner of the MFT screen but there was no audible chime and "please say a command"... and no recognitiion of anything that I said. I had not used the navigation function in several days, so that was not a factor this time - if it was even a factor last time, who knows. So this morning I ran the delayed reboot app again (I keep the flash drive and instruction page in the center console, good thing I guess), it worked fine again but I have no idea why it acted up yet again. So once again I think back to how my old Sync version 3.1 (I think that is what it was) in my 2010 FFH was flawless, but I should be happy since I am enjoying this 'new and improved' 3.5.1 version with MFT. acdii Report post Posted June 9, 2013 Hey guys. Pinned this one since its a good piece of information, used it myself in fact. Note, you do need to move the files to a different folder if you use the same USB drive for you r music, or it will load it every time you start the car, at least mine did. 3 neod192, Jeff D Taylor and fusionTX reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted June 21, 2013 Does this work with MyFord too? We didn't add MFT because of all the bugs, but we still have frequent issues with the phone call audio not coming through and the car telling us "Index Full" and not allowing voice commands for the iPod. If it doesn't say "Index Full" it usually tells us that voice commands are not available because it is still "Indexing" our iPod.

They don't have a similar program for MyFord. You might want to send a message to Rebecca At Ford on FB and see if she has a solution to your indexing problem - I think I heard about it before. 2 TonyHzNV and Jeff D Taylor reacted to this

gmarshall Report post Posted August 9, 2013 I believe that I have extracted these files to the root of my USB flash drive, these are the three (3) files that it shows when I look at this drive. Would someone please tell me if these are the correct files that should be there before I try to run this program. autoinstall.lst DelayedReboot.cab ReadMe.txt If these are not correct would someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and how to extract the correct files to my USB flash drive and what files I should be seeing. jeff_h Report post Posted August 9, 2013 IIRC, I saved the zip file to my PC's hard drive, then unzipped it to the USB drive, and when I did that the three files you mention were on there, but I think maybe there was also a "zip within a zip" file that also went onto the USB -- when all the proper files are on the USB, it will autorun when the USB drive is attached in the car. jonessoda Report post Posted October 6, 2013 Hey folks, I just tried doing this because my climate control freaked out on me a few days ago. The app installed like the instruction said, but when I shut off the car, nothing ever happens. All the instructions say is that if this happens, "something went wrong". I tried it twice to no avail. Anyone have anything like that happen? Thanks!
