1. Bad fit and finish around interior door trim: I haven't complained to dealer yet about this because I'm tired of dealing with them from issues above, but black plastic pieces around door handles on driver side keep popping out of place and have to be pushed back in place. I think they are missing some adhesive from their back sides. Overall, I'm not overly impressed with interior finish details, for a $34K car there shouldn't be fit and finish issues. My wife doesn't like the fact that the front leather seats have a cloth panel on the center console side of seats.

 

I've had multiple issues with interior trim pieces. Not this particular one, but I feel your pain there.

1. You need to go to the dealership and demand to speak with the Manager. They do not want an angry customer in the showroom, and will get the manager for you pretty quickly.

2. If you don't get results, contact Ford Customer Service and ask them to intervene.

3. File a report with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). If they have a good rating, they will not want an unresolved issue damaging their rating. (Of course, if they have a negative rating, they probably won't do anything voluntarily - did you check their rating before buying the car?)

 

In whatever steps you take, don't just complain that there is an oil stain - instead, provide what solution would satisfy you. For example, either have the dealership clean or replace the stained panel(s); if not, you will take it to someone else to take care of if they will pay for it. Trust me, I have been in the Customer Service field for years, and complaints that offer solutions are always addressed faster and taken more seriously. There are so many customers who just complain because they like to whine, a complaint with a solution attached will be addressed faster.

I noticed the rear bumper on the left where it meets the quarter panel behind the wheel well has a spot where it might peel the paint off. Sending this to my dealer so they can arrange to get it repaired when I bring it in. With my Flex being repainted this week, I have to wait until at least next Wednesday before I can drop it off.

I've been looking at this topic from the start and frankly, I have thought all along that my FFH was built very well.

The only discrepancy was the leather shift knob and a few awkward to see paint blemishes near the tail lights.

 

Now, I think the answer to the topic's question can be answered by looking at the list of Recall, TSB and Outstanding Field Actions.

Every one of those was 'what was wrong with my FFH when I picked it up'.

It is a very complex car and a great first effort. Ford made a great driving car and most of the FFH's we hear about are doing their jobs superbly, especially the Job 2 models.

Being aware of the strange mechanical behavior of your Blue Devil and other issues with cars on this forum, we know a small percentage of these cars are not quite up to snuff.

 

I betcha Ford is surprised at some of the things that have turned up as well, we're doing a good job reporting the good and the bad.

Mine was built on Feb 6, 2013. Problems already mentioned:

 

1. missing mushroom caps on the upper cargo net holders.

2. cracked plastic holder on passenger sun visor causing visor to flop around.

3. windshield washer shoots low.

4. wrong shifter knob.

5. TSB for clicking noise in front wheels

6. Global window up/down losing memory.

7. frequent battery saver messages. 12v battery died once after car sat idle for two weeks.
