SAM is in the shop

I made an appointment to bring SAM in to the Ford dealer for a couple of issues:

1. "Express up" feature on the front windows was only working intermittently.

2. Auto High beams aren't working at all - I thought I was setting it incorrectly, but the fact is, they aren't working.

3. I am having the same "clunking" or "clicking" noise when I start from a stop, or come to a full stop that so many of the forum members have reported.

 

What I find interesting is that they corrected the windows and high-beams very quickly, but they said they are going to keep the car for a day or two to figure out what is causing the noise that so many of us are experiencing. I'll keep you posted if they actually figure this out!

 

When I dropped the car off, they gave me a complimentary rental (Mazda 3) from Hertz while they keep the car. The funny thing is that I've gotten so used to the Adaptive Cruise Control in the FFH, that when I was driving the Mazda on the highway, I almost forgot that I had to hit the brakes when the traffic ahead was going slower than I was! I didn't realize how fast I took the ACC for granted!

This is the one thing I mentioned when I first got the car. One of the gotchas of the ACC. Since I seldom use it in my 10, it isnt too big an issue, but so glad the 13 Flex has it, and I use it in that one which helps keep the MPG high.

Well, the Ford dealer had the car for THREE DAYS, and the end result was:

• Express-up windows worked for them, no issue found, nothing done.
• Auto-high beams worked for them, no issue found, nothing done.
• Clunking noise was addressed - "Torqued CV Axle Nuts to spec, Torqued Lug nuts to spec, checked all fasteners, all secured and torqued to spec. Contacted Hotline ID #106249997, Ford is aware of this condition and is currently working towards a solution, however a fix for this concern is not available at this time."

So for everyone's prior posts regarding this issue, nothing has changed. It would seem that there is a recall coming, but not until Ford figures out what they screwed up in the first place and then it will be corrected. I will say that all of the torquing seems to have worked for the most part. It is not 100% fixed, but is better. Does this mean that everything was loose prior? Hmmmmmmm..... :drop:

This is so true. It even happens to me even with the Fusion. i'll be using the ACC and then hit the brakes at some point and forget it's not on. Then when I'm approaching another car and it doesn't stop, I have to catch myself.
