My HyTi is in!

The dealer just called to tell me that the HyTi I ordered came in, and to let me know that he was going to put it into retail inventory unless I still wanted it.

 

It broke my heart, but I told him yes, go ahead. As much as I'm sure I would love that car, I can't take the hit on a trade in and the only way I could do it would be to sell the one I have outright to someone who really wants a hybrid and doesn't mind one with just a little wear on it.

 

So-- unless anyone here is in Sacramento and wants to make an offer on this beautiful Bordeaux SE that I have--I think I'll be moving on. I really would love to go and drive it but, man, I know I'd be awfully tempted if I did.

Oh, I would go, but I know that would be the kiss of death for me and my bank account. I am not that strong.

 

I have to sell this other car outright to make it work even a little. I did already get an email from a dealer, though. Wonder what part of "firm" they did not understand?

Yeah I had 3 people offer to trade their 5-8 YO car for the Fusion. Like what part of I am SELLING did they not get? I was pretty sure I did not say, or Trade. DOH

Craigslist is terrible for selling a car. I am sure people do it, but good luck putting

up with all the scamsters and people that will waste your time and yank you around.

I put a "test" ad for my car there and got people wanting to trade for an older car,

motorcycle, their kids, offering me 1/2 of what I wanted...you'll get the same results.

 

Much better luck spending the $40 for AutoTrader as people who look there tend to

me serious.

I sold my Camry Hybrid on Craigslist. Got three serious inquires and one not so serious.

So far I have had none of that. I've sold cars on Craigslist before; the language I used is pretty firm about not wasting my time (how about "DO NOT come here, drive it, then offer me less than I'm asking. I like this car and I'm happy to keep it if you don't want it.")

 

I think I've been pretty clear and if that scares people away, that's fine with me. Hopefully it won't scare away the person who's sincerely willing to pay the asking price, which is a pretty good deal when you consider there's a several thousand dollar difference from what I paid new, AND I bought it with X-plan pricing to begin with!

I have sold several older cars on craigslist with good results. I spell out the phone number ... one six four five five five one two there four.. to prevent robots from adding my phone number to spam lists and ususally state that I won't reply to emails or texts. It is a lot easier to sell a 5,000 dollar car there than a 25,000 dollar car, because of the financing issues and the size of the transaction.

A friend from work saw that I had posted my Craigslist ad on Facebook. He wanted to go for a ride, so I took him. He likes it, but he's waiting for a court settlement to come in and you know how those things go-- I doubt the Ti will remain in stock for that amount of time. So she remains in my good hands.

I stopped by my dealer today to pick up Sylvi, had her oil changed today, so shes a happy girl. While I was there I found out he kept the order on the two Fusions, and the non hybrid is already on the lot, though I didnt want to look at what could have been, but he did say the other one is in scheduling now, and he changed it to black. That will be one nice car. I asked he called when it comes in so I can at least have a sit in what I had ordered and look at the sticker with my name on it. :)

 

 

Man, just think if I find a few grand to pay down my 2010, and the black one comes in....... Black Fusion, Black Flex. Black Bart rides to town. :)

Craigslist does lead to a lot of wasted time offers. I prefer letting people send me an anonymous e-mail over giving out my phone number. I sold older cars on Craigslist but when trying to sell our Accord Hybrid before the FFH arrived I found that there weren't many people on there who were shopping for cars that cost more than $10k. We were asking $12,500 for our Accord Hybrid. I had lots of ppl e-mail asking if we would take $10k because that was their ceiling.

Bingo, that was my experience exactly. If you want more than $10k for your car, don't bother with CraigsList.

I used my Google Voice number and said I would not even response to email requests - "please call" -

and provide your name and contact info. If they didn't at least do that, I knew they weren't serious and

although I got -0- real offers or serious parties, I didn't waste any time with it.
