Newbie from VA

Ordered a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid in Ruby Red in late December. Had been reading this and other forums for a short while and it seemed most everyone was in love with the styling of the car but some had a few unkind words on some of it's features and/or their dealership experience. By mid-February I was going crazy with anticipation and couldn't stand to wait any longer. Found a comparable car at another dealership and my original dealer was able to swap for it and I took delivery on 2/21. Sterling Gray, Moonroof, Appearance package and MyFord Touch. I had already downloaded the owners manual in PDF Form and read through it twice! I have about 800 miles on it now and I'm averaging a little over 40 mpg. MFT can be a little glitchy. Love the ride and has reasonable power. Hoping to get slightly higher mpg when I get a little better at driving my first hybrid. So far very impressed!

I'm a new VA guy myself, but I'm down in Roanoke/Blacksburg. Took my delivery yesterday. First commute to work, mostly on highways - 45 MPG. I'll take that!! Granted that trip might be more downhill than the return but hey, beats anything I was getting in my old Jetta 2.5.

Any advice about decent and honest dealers around the area to start looking?

I'm gonna assume you're not in the New River Valley, so I probably can't help you. haha. In fact, I haven't seen another FFH on the road down here besides mine. Think it's a bigger deal in the more populated areas of the state, that's why I'm assuming you're not down here!

That depends on where you are and how far you are willing to go. I am in Stafford County which is halfway between Richmond and DC, personally don't have a problem taking a quick road trip to save a few hundred bucks or to find just the car I want.

Jerry's is where i got my FFH from in January.Sales was great and now that I finally have shifter replaced I am warming to the service dept.

Yesterday I went to the dealer in Leesburg. The salesman was kind of pushy and trying to convince me to get the Energi instead because they didn't have any Hybrids.

He was also saying that ordering one with the options that I want would take like a year. I didn't believe that. Later I talked to the manager and he said it would be about 3-4 months.

Funny you mention that, as Fynack is a user on here that bought a new FFH and was unhappy with the MPG as he had a short commute and with cold temps that makes for bad MPG (he pops back in every now and then to remind us that Ford does indeed suck and how happy he is now with his Lexus, happy trails Fynack)... so if you do have a short commute then the Energi would be the better move, provided you are in the mood to shell out an additional $10k or whatever.

 

But I saw your email and replied, maybe there is a suitable VIN on the way into the area that will be up your alley, let's find out!

Let us know how you get on at Jerrys. I dealt with Hans and bought from dealer stock. I ended up with a couple of extra options but managed get the price I wanted. Happy shopping.

I just came back from there. I was in a hurry so I couldn't talk to anybody. They had 2 white FFH SE. One of them was well equipped.

I decided to go for the Titanium so I plan to go back and see what they can do.
