Is there an ETA in sight for the 2013 Fusions? Starting to get second thoughts.

Recommended Posts

I like driving the car, and try as much as I can to ignore the MPG screen on the left, but its obsessive! It's crazy that I can hop in my 2010 just drive it without caring and get 40 in it, and drive the 13 and try as I might not even get close, yet Somedays! that dang thing will actually get OK MPG. Its one of those, I'll do what I feel like when I feel like it cars. The auto highbeams and rain sensing wipers same thing, work when they feel like it.

If you have been waiting that long you might want to call customer service. I had concerns about mine but wasn't 11 weeks, they expedited things and I got a call from my regional customer service rep and he found out what was going on.

Thanks for the advice. I just called them and they asked for my VIN and told me that my car is waiting shipment but it doesn't say where or why its taking so long. So a supervisor will call me back.

I ordered mine on 12/18/2012 and was told it would take 8 weeks. The order was delayed b/c of the holidays, and in mid-January I was told it would be another 8 weeks. I, too, looked at other vehicles since I didn't want to wait any longer. But before I signed the papers, I re-read the brochure I had read 500 times already for the Fusion, and I just couldn't settle for anything else. I finally got the car on 2/23/2013, so it was just over 8 weeks.

And trust me ConFusioned, it is worth waiting for. I never thought I would enjoy an hour commute each way to work, but I love every minute. Playing the mpg games, seeing how often I can get the EV bar indicating I'm running on electric power, and watching the Efficiency Vines get thick with leaves keeps me amused and occupied the whole way.

Today, I filled up the tank from about 1/4 tank, I had driven 426 miles, and only filled up 9.4 gallons, achieving overall 45.4mpg! My overall economy is continuing to climb, I'm now at 41.7mpg (keep in mind, my first fill-up only got me 36.8, I was still learning how to drive a hybrid, it had 11 miles before I got it, and I don't know if it really came with a FULL tank).

If you can possibly be patient, I think you'll be glad you did after the big day finally arrives!

Keep us posted and let us know what you decide.

djminfll, thanks for the encouragement. I'm just anxious, I wanted to drive my new FFH during a recent job shutdown and I wanted to drive it during the Easter holiday. I am currently getting 10mpg in my SUV and its killing me with gas over $4 a gallon. I don't go any where. My dealer emailed me today and there's no new news and he'll get back to me next WEEK (3 month anniversary). Ford customer service is currently looking into it and will get to me. I think it will be soon. I don't want to look for another car and my feelings are if I'm spending that much money then I want a car with the options I want. In short...... I'm waiting :-) (for now)

You're welcome ConFusioned, like I said, I know what you're going through!

Did you factory order yours? If not, I don't know where you live, but I just checked www.cars.com for availability of FFH vehicles, and there are 1,733 of them around the USA. If you did, I can tell you that when I was getting impatient on mine, my dealer told me that if I didn't want to wait, he would refund my deposit b/c someone else will buy the car once it arrive.

But again, I factory ordered mine exactly how I wanted it, and I checked inventory every single day for week after week, and there were absolutely NONE equipped the way I wanted them, so I stuck it out.

Good luck!

djminfll I thought I was the only one checking my dealer's on-line inventory to see if he got a new shipment today. I'm encouraged no one went over 3 months. I too was offered my deposit back but I've waited this long. I could have taken another car color off the lot but I too ordered it the way I wanted it. Thanks for the luck.

I'm still waiting for a call that my FFH is ready for me at the dealership since the end of December and still waiting for my call back from Ford Customer Service regarding an ETA.

Other than that I am enjoying reading all the posts, replies and tips in this forum from all the Ford Fusion owners here.

Good luck on the call back on Customer Service. They NEVER called me back. I got to the point that I could call him every Friday morning, (Ford updates the list on Thursday evenings). I ordered mine in June, knowing that they would not start manufacturing until September. Was hoping to get it the end of October. The end of November came around and nothing. The Social Rep on Facebook volunteered to look it up and keep me posted. Found out the Car was built on October 4. Every post she told me that it was awaiting shipment and nothing was wrong. I had heard rumors on this site about headlight problems and I asked if there could be a problem with mine, and she told me that QA inspections were quite common and mine was not affected and it was still awaiting shipment. Finally I called Ford Customer Service and was assigned to Jason and he told that my car and 20,000 others had a "stop ship" order on them but could not (or would not) tell me why. Then I hear about the recall for the headlight issue and how they have to ship cars to Flat Rock for "inspection and repair" because they ran out of room on the lots at Hermasillo. I guess he got tired of me calling once or twice a week for updates and to appease me he gave me a 3 year 45,000 maintenance agreement. (Oil changes and tire rotations every 5,000 miles). I had downloaded the owners manual and noticed that the hybrids were scheduled for oil changes every 10,000 miles so I asked if he could extend it. He said no. I took it anyway, of course. My local dealer told me that it states oil changes every 5,000 miles so since Ford was paying for it, to change my oil every 5,000 miles for the first 45,000. In December he finally told me that the car was on route either to Flat Rock or the Dealer, he couldn't tell me which. The next week he told me that it was in Voltz, MO. I googled Voltz, MO and found out that there is no such city in Missouri. I just googled Voltz and discovered that there is a Voltz Railyard which is an automobile distribution point so I knew it was headed to the dealership. I also found out that the rail yard was located less than one hour by truck from the dealership. It took an additional 13 days to get to the dealer. No trucker wants a one-off load, they want a full load to one dealership so it sat there until that happened. It arrived December 27. Due to tax reasons I waited until January 2 to pick it up. What is another week after 3 months?

Bottom line, I will never special order a car again, I will let them find one with the options I want. The wait nearly drove me crazy.

Bottom, bottom line. The car is FANTASTIC. All is forgiven. And the mpg keeps climbing every day. When I picked it up it said "lifetime 6 mpg". Now the lifetime is 39.8 and my recent tankfulls have it at 41.1. Last night on a couple of 20 minute trips it got 46 and 54 coming and going. I'll take that any time.

I have no issues with my dealership or salesman. They have kept me posted. Just no one knows the ETA. Ford Customer Service said they have to respond in 2 days to customer' s calls so since they failed to respond to my first call, they said they will escalate this call. We will see.

I was hoping to get my car before Easter but it doesn't look like I will. I don't want to be the first to go past 3 months. I still want the car but not as excited like a kid on Christmas eve.

I just ordered my FFH Titanium yesterday. The dealer told me 8 weeks but agreed to reduce the price by another $200 if it's not delivered within 11 weeks (June 1st). We will see........................... :)

I just ordered one this morning too. As long as I don't go over 10K miles on the current one, then I am locked into a price. Going to be a long 16 weeks.

Today was my 3rd phone call to Ford Marketing with the same response someone will get back to me in 2 days but this time they wanted me to call the dealership. I told them enough is enough with the dealership and Ford Customer Service telling me the status of my car is "Waiting Shipment". That status was given to me 2 months ago. I do not have any issues with the dealership, this is a Ford Company and Ford Customer Service problem. I still want my car because of the comments written on this forum and the reviews I have read. I have medical issues and do not need anymore worries. I have 3 months tied into waiting for my order not counting the weeks I went car shopping. So again I was told "Waiting Shipment" and they will get back to me in 2 days.

Ford we are all adults here, level with us and tell us the truth. Eventually the truth always comes out.
