Maybe the sound mine is making isn't as loud as others. I can barely hear it inside the car, and it is only one or two clicks when it happens. I guess it takes a lot more to get me upset compared to others. It's not a safety issue, and does nothing to decrease my driving enjoyment.

Can anyone document it with some video and sound or just sound?

It's still a little upsetting that there is a sound at all, indicating there is some kind of problem that will eventually have to be addressed.

Mine seems to be worse now it is in the 80's. Will call the dealer and get the issue logged but unless they have a fix I'll wait on taking it in.

It is not bad enough get worked up about in my opinion.

I agree its not a show stopper, but annoying for such a nice vehicle to have such an issue which should have been caught and corrected in the test phases, my cracklin started at about 500 miles, also I guess its possible the issue causing the noise could be a much bigger problem and costly for owners after the vehicle ages.......

I've never heard this noise, but my dealer heard it in my car and asked me if I had heard it. Because I had read this thread I told them what I read on here and they are going to replace my axle even though the Hotline seems to be telling other dealers to not install parts. So I'm confused. But if they want to put an axle in my car I'm not going to say no

I was thinking the opposite of hybridbear.

Instead of having the service department perform trial and error with my car, I'd like them to fix a few of these before they get a "crack" at fixing mine.

Maybe I'm being too skeptical?

No, you're not. It's like not going to have laser eye surgery from a doctor that's only been doing it for six months.

Sounds like there are currently two possible solutions going to, one with axle replacement and another with CV Shafts, I had front right strut and bearing replaced with no luck, Maybe we will know something on the mystery crackling noise soon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

CV Shafts arrived will be going in on Tuesday. I will report back to you all then.

I believe my car has this issue as well but i cannot reproduce it consistently. I can only hear it with the radio completely off and without other traffic around because it is so quiet, is anyone hearing it outside of very quiet conditions like this? What I am hearing is usually a single or double *pop* noise similar to what you might hear from a warm engine exhaust once a car is turned off. Keeping an eye in here for a fix so i can have my dealer look at it once it is resolved.

Yes it can be heard outside the car, my wife pointed it out to me( I already had heard it several times) when she got out at her office and I started to roll. Its a click, thunk, cluck sound, (describing it is difficult, but you will know when you hear it) and it can be heard when starting from a dead stop in EV or stopping while rolling slow in EV.

Got a dealer oil change done yesterday and noticed this sound starting on way home. Maybe it has always been there. Hard to say because I don't hear it with windows up and yesterday was first day I drove windows down. I was thinking it might be a break pad issue until I saw this thread. 5600 miles on it.

My hybrid only has 120 miles on it. I do not think I am experiencing this noise yet, but I do sometimes hear loud noises when starting the car in the garage. Maybe when turning the A/C on. Maybe when backing out. I've heard a loud noise that startled me a couple of times, but can't really pinpoint the exact conditions and I don't think it's reproducible at will. will keep an eye out for it now. Thanks for all the informational posts

I know my Camry hybrid always made weird noises in the garage upon shutdown, so hybrids do have their own quirks, which is why I have not been playing close attention.

I don't think anybody has answered this definitively, but is this a hybrid-only issue? Or possibly hybrid and energi issue? Wonder if it's been discussed in other Fusion forums.

Howdy, Fellow Texan, I hear a fairly loud buzzing sound in garage backing out on EV, (think this is normal) as far as crackling sound from front end, my started at about 500 miles, now I have 1050 miles, waiting on Ford fix to be released. Check your shifter, if you

paid for 505a luxury pkg, you should have leather wrapped with silver insert on top,,, I have the standard shifter, need to get correct shifter installed at Dealer, see my other posts for photos...

Thanks my shifter is the correct one. I am really very happy with the car.

Will be putting close to 3000 miles on it starting next Friday, so will find any quirks real quick...

This decribes what I hear. I have 5700 miles on mine.

I just talked to my Dealer about this, my rep said they just had a FF Energi in with the same thing and the axles swap fixed it.

They are ordering two CV axle assemblies to change mine out.

I told him the HotLine # but he wasn't interested, just going to change both assemblies.

I'll get a call back very soon so we can set an appointment for the repair.

Will be interesting to hear if the problem does go away or eventually returns as the axles wear in.

Mine have been doing this for a while (6200 miles on car now) and since this topic I've been paying attention and it's getting worse.

I agree, will it re-occur after some miles are on the new part?

Is that why Ford says not to do anything at the moment, but my Dealer wants me to be happy right now?

Are the CV/axles assemblies under testing scrutiny by Ford Engineering? There are more questions than answers.

Either way, I side with my Dealer, I want to be happy now, if the problem re-surfaces they can fix it again.

I think Ford wants to determine exactly which part of the assembly is making this noise. Is it the trans side, or the CV side. They may also request that the axles be sent to their lab for examination to help determine the problem. Lets just hope the problem is the axle and not the transmission, as that can get ugly really fast.
