MXGOLF Report post Posted March 7, 2013 I just have the standard version of my sync and no my touch but instead of the leaves on the right side of the dash my only option is the compass. One problem it's backwards! While heading west, north is on the left and south on the right just the opposite of a real compass and the real world. If I am heading north west is east and east is west? Is everyone's the same? Kind of weird it's backwards. Thanks,
B25Nut Report post Posted March 7, 2013 It is also like this on the Navigation. It is odd, but the designer must have assumed that drivers would prefer to have the compass ball rotate in the same direction as the steering wheel.
acdii Report post Posted March 8, 2013 maybe they put the Australian version in? 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
terryb Report post Posted March 8, 2013 Remember that the car rotates around the ball as a boat would. When you make a left turn to go from a west heading to a south heading you move from center toward the right. 2 MXGOLF and B25Nut reacted to this

In that case the magnetic north is off... /shrug
gkinla Report post Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) When looking at a magnetic hand held compass you can see the north arrow pointer, no problem. When looking at a ball compass you can't see the North arrow pointer, so the ball compass is showing the heading (the direction your going). Think of it this way, when driving West, yes the compass shows N on the left, stop the car safely, get out and look North through the drivers window, glance at the compass and it will be telling you North is straight through the passenger side with West being on your left. Another way to look at it the passenger door becomes the North arrow pointer. Hope this helps. Edited June 3, 2013 by gkinla
