So is the final consensus that 18 inch wheels affect MPG?

Not so much the wheels, but the tires Ford puts on em. The five-spokers come with the summer goodyears instead of the michelin low roll resistance ones. I bet the effect is minimal though.

Many users with 18" wheels reported awesome MPGs, so the 18" wheels don't negatively impact MPGs. The improved handling that comes with the 18" wheels is worth any insignificant loss on MPGs.

The Goodyear LS2 tires are low rolling resistance tires made for Hybrids, so no they dont affect MPG as you would think being Goodyear Eagles. In fact when the dealer had tested and compared my car to another Hybrid that had the 17" Michelins, they found my car got 1 MPG better.

 

I know if you look back a few months I started a thread questioning this myself, but the consensus is, they dont affect the MPG. I like them and plan to install them on my 2010.

I have the 18" wheels (Luxury wheels) and the Goodyear tires. I'm extremely happy with the tires and the handling. I am hitting 44-47mpg regularly on my trips to work and back. I know for a fact these wheels and tires will not effect your mileage. I mentioned in another post, that when it's time to change tires, I will be getting these exact tires again!

I have the luxury 10 spoke 18" wheels and love them. The jury is still out on the mileage due to the 18" wheels.

There are many Li-on cells in the battery pack, probably more than a couple of hundred, which combined give the high voltage KWH. I'm sure some one can pull up the exact specs.

I read somewhere the HVB has 76 cells connected in series which would output average about 290 volts. The problem with this configuration is that because they are in series, one bum cell can cause significant performance loss.

They may be in groups of series, so that if one cell does go bad, it doesnt take the entire pack with it. In the RC packs they have series parallel packs for some of the larger packs where they need capacity but not voltage. So a 14.4 v pack at 6000Mah uses 5S2P or 10 cells wired in series/parallel 5x2x5. so you have 2 14.4 volt packs in parallel. The car packs may be the same.

Not quiet sure what you mean by this. I don't know how they're "better and improved"? There is nothing wrong with the car I have.
