Spare Tire for fusion hybrid

Recommended Posts

I sure don't understand their business practices or their Customer Relations. So now I've got to hunt down a tire from the Internet. Hopefully I can find one.

If you're feeling in the mood, a letter or phone call complaint to Ford Customer Service might be in order, your Dealer sounds like they need a nudge.

Milleron is right, I linked to that size tire at Pep Boys (above) so I know you can find the tire at other sources and at better prices, it's just Special Order.

I just was the guinea pig for this Frankenstein spare project.

They need more than a Nudge. I just now got a call from Parts Dept. and he said the Wheel was in. In the mean time I looked up that Part Number at Teamforddotcom and Guess what that ONE part number goes to several Size Wheels 15", 16", 17" Now I'm worried that I don't know what size they ordered for me, so I called them back and asked what size is this Wheel you ordered, his answer is, Oh I don't know, I just ordered the Part Number you gave me,... OMG.... it had 16xt4 on the paper too that I handed him. I didn't know that one part number went to 3 different size wheels so be VERY careful on how you order your wheel, make sure they put 16 inch somewhere on the order. I think I just got lucky.

Or just take your parts list to your local discount tire place or Costco and ask them to special order it. That's what I intend to do when my car arrives. I'm almost positive that it'll be less expensive than the Ford dealer, but I'll probably buy the wheel online. For example, it's $124.31 including shipping at teamfordparts.com, and I'm sure there are other places like that on the Web, as well.

By the way, another example is that my dealer wants over $2,100 for the Premium ESP but Flood Ford in Rhode Island sells it for $975 -- exactly the same plan.

BTW... I did just go to teamfordpartsDotcom and they don't list 2013 Ford Fusions of any type on their Model drop down list so how are you looking up a price on the 2013 Ford Fusion? Can you post a screen shot of it so we can see it. Maybe it's my Browser or because I'm on a Mac but I see no listing for Ford Fusion of any kind. Thanks.

Just search on the part number that GrySql supplied, CV6Z1015B, rather than trying to search under specific models.

So this is what you are talking about, correct, to use on the Ford Fusion's.

Gee, that's kind of hard to understand, One part number cannot possibly be listed with three different items. If it did, they couldn't keep their inventories straight. I DO see what you mean at teamfordparts.com. At that site, it seems easy to get the 16" wheel by selecting it, but it would seem that there's something wrong with their database, OR they're able to search on similar parts from one number. I'll bet that you get the 16" wheel from your local dealer's order. Let us know.

Erich, go back to the Web site in question and search on CV6Z1015B, CV6Z1015A, and CV6Z1015C and see what you get. I'm guessing that although the search engine brings up multiple sizes on the initial search, the "B" in the part number is specific for the 16" compact spare wheel. Further evidence for that deduction can be found here. I doubt that you have anything to worry about with your order.

The worry part is over now, as I picked up the Rim and I asked again, is this the right Rim for the Fusion he said I'll look up Your Vin number, I'm thinking it's not going to show for a Hybrid and that's what he said, your car doesn't have a Spare Tire / Rim But it does show the part number you gave me is for Fusion NON-Hybrid so it should fit yours, it is a 16" Rim. Now I have the Rim part in the trunk. No tire yet. LoL. but I do have the Rim. Next stop, see if Pep Boys or some other discount tire place can Special Order it.

P.S. ..... I looked at your LINK and that's what My Box says on it 2013 Ford Focus. It was also hand written on the Box & on the Label too.

I spent an hour or two this afternoon driving from tire dealer to tire dealer trying to get a Continental 135/90-R16 special ordered. They wanted nothing to do with me at all. "You'll need to see your dealer." Pep Boys would say that they could special order Bridgestone or Firestone tires of this size; the cost -- $185 and $335, respectively, but they're out of stock and don't know when they might become available. I didn't try my dealer because they're not open on Sunday, but I did an Internet search and found a new Continental-brand T135/90-R16 for $50 including shipping on eBay. Bought that, and I ordered the wheel from TeamFordParts.com. I have an inquiry in to a local salvage yard to see if the jack is still in the 2003 Windstar they received in unrepairable condition last week. If that doesn't work, I'll order one of the many available on eBay for $40. I think my total cost for the project will approximate $215 plus whatever it costs to get the tire mounted and balanced. It could pay for itself the first time I get a puncture. If I never get a flat in this car, oh well. My Accord is 10.5 years old, and its spare has never been out of its well, so this one may never be used, either, but I'll appreciate the peace of mind.

Interestingly, many of the T135/90-R16 tires listed on eBay came mounted on 16" wheels identified as Sentra or Altima spares. IF the lug-bolt pattern were the same as ours, then I'd love to know if those wheels would clear our brake parts. If they would, one could get a turn-key spare for less than $90. Some of them were already balanced.

Many, many thanks to GrySql for blazing the trail here.

Edit: They guy at the salvage yard does work on Sunday. He says I can have the '03 Windstar jack for $5 if I take it out of the vehicle myself (I am not making this up)

milleron..... Did you get the junk yard Jack. If so where is it located in the Windstar, in the back, I'm assuming the inside wheel well is back there. We have a lot of junk yards around where I live. Thanks. Might look at a few Yards tomorrow.

The FFH wheel bolt pattern is 5 X 108.

The Altima or Sentra is 5 X 114.

That would have been too easy! ;)

I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, but I know that it's behind a tool-free panel in the back of the van. That's why I laughed about the guy asking me to remove it myself. It's not quite as hard as removing a transmission. I'll go over there after work in a day or two to have a look & let you know how that turns out.

So for those of us with the HyTi and 18" wheels, the part combination

would be as follows:

CV6Z1015B (17" inch for Ford Focus) + Continental T135/90-R17

Can anybody confirm that and the 17" will also fit in the spare well?

There are plenty of variations of this tire it seems.

Also, as an alternative, the Goodyear LS-A 18" is only $102 on TireRack.

Might be just having one around as a space and take your changes that

your flat would happen close to home.

If you buy a 17" wheel and tire in the size noted in your post it will have a 1" larger diameter than the 16" spare W/T I have.

No one here has attempted to fit that large a spare wheel/tire in the FFH's trunk wheel well.

You are on your own there.

I now have Continental T135/90-16 spare tire on a T16x4T standard Fusion spare tire wheel (16" wheel x 4").

It is NOT a 17" spare wheel/tire.

See my picture in a previous post for fitment, it is tight.

When we first tried to place it in the wheel well I thought it was not going to fit, it barely slides in.

The exact part numbers that I have on my receipt are:

QTY - FP NUMBER DESCRIPTION

1 - CV6Z-1015-B T16" x 4" WHEEL ASSEMBLY

1 - 9002-0340377-000 T135/90R16 tire, Continental

Thanks GrySql for the P/N's for the spare wheel and tire. You and I are at the same dealer and have the same Service Advisor. I have the same clicking problem as you. They already changed the spindles 800 miles ago, now at 4000 miles the noise is coming back. I've been there so many times the EV+ indicator comes on. Still love the 2013 FFH though. My last car was a 2010 FFH.

OK, so that's the combo we all want. Wasn't clear from the posts if anybody has actually

driven the car with the 18" rims/tires and the 16" spare? Has somebody done that?

Not sure which of you have the Titanium or S/SE?

This is a rather long Topic thread.

I have an SE with 18" W/T's.

The final details about driving with my 16" Spare W/T with 3 other 18" W/T's is in Post #67.

I can see Right Now that Part Number is going to be confusing. We believe the CV6Z1015B is for the 16" FORD FOCUS (which goes on (fits) the Fusion too) rim, NOT the 17".

They have A ,B, & C. A=15" B=16" C=17" I think, or at least that's how it was explainred to me. I bought the B one and it's 16". I hope I'm not confusing the issue more.

I have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid SE with 18" Goodyear Eagles LS-2

Well I just Bought my Spare Tire:

NISSAN ALTIMA SPARE TIRE DONUT Continental-135/90/16 T135/90R-16

off Ebay for $49.45 and FREE Shipping. Owner said these tires were 3-Years Old on the date stamp on the tire. I think milleron and I bought off the same guy.

Anyway that's done. Now to get it Mounted and Bal. on the $160 rim, LOL. I think that will cost me another extra $15.00 at the tire place right down the street from my house. At least this tire doesn't come with a Rim, it's just the tire only. The owner has more if anybody else is looking for this size Donut Spare tire.

So I go over to buy the Spare Tire and Wheel. I ordered the Same wheel as GrySql did because I took the Ford part Numbers with me. That will be $162.00 for the Wheel only

I found the wheel for $123.04 shipped at www.silverstatefordparts.com. They seem to have the lowest prices I could find.

You got a really good deal on the tire!

Yes, I bought a little to quickly ( cost me Extra $40 for being stupid) directly from MY Ford Dealership without doing my Homework . I should have waited. It will cost me a Re-stocking Fee if I take it back to dealer because they had to get it from somewhere else.

I'm trying to make up for it on the tire & Jack though. If I can get the jack for $5.00 I'll be doing great. I got the tire for approx. $50 plus $15 mounting& Bal. I won't feel to bad about my deal.

Thanks, Yes I will be saying that and laughing at the Fix-a-Flat.

One other thing I hope for , Because this spare is already Three years old I hope it's as good as my Old 1998 Uniroyal Tiger Paw full size spare. I was riding around on that thing when I sold the truck. Not a crack in it and I just sold the truck in Jan. this year.

Which brings me to the next question about Spare Tires and Tires in general, trying to keep on topic.

Has anybody used 415F4GJ2WAL._SY300_.jpgon their tires. I was thinking about useing this on my Spare for keeping it nice and protected against ageing. Any comments ?

Give it a go, why not.

I've used this for years, lasts a long time and really works, it's a bit expensive though.

I use it on my leather seats, tires and convertible top of the '03 Mustang GT convertible I bought new, everything but the paint.

It still looks OEM and new.

Wipe it on with a sponge, let it dry and wipe it off - leaves a dry, glossy finish.
