We drove our 2010 Merc Milan HY from Illinois to Washington DC for Thanksgiving through the storms on the east coast. Sirius was turned on for a "free" week and the travel link was great!! The weather radar was extremely accurate and it warned us of sleet/ice conditions on the mountain tops well in advance. Traffic info was also very good, though the coverage in rural interstates is still better on my iphone Google maps app. But you can't beat seeing the radar on the big nav screen.

 

I didn't know you could buy it without taking the entire subscription. I'm not crazy about the price of the full package and the audio content as most of our driving is local and we tend to use the old standby AM radio stations for local information then tune in Pandora or music on the Iphone. We do take several long trips in the car and I'd consider buying the travel link for that.

 

I wish I could get a ford navigation update for a reasonable price. After 3 years, I'm surprised how many changes have been made on the highways that our nav system isn't aware of.

 

We also picked up a rock chip in the windshield that is now a crack across half of the window. Trip MPG was 35.8, not bad for interstate driving with snow/rain/sleet on the way out and sunny skies on the way back in a '10.

I've used it a few times, but it seems slow to update with real world data.

I liked it at first, but seeing how it works in a real world scenario made me realize it's not worth the money. I had it on driving from Boston to PA and there happened to be accident around the PA border that closed the interstate. The electronic road signs along the route informed me of the accident at least 15 minutes before travel-link alerted me. The route that it suggested for avoiding the incident was basically get off 1 exit before the accident even though the interstate was backed up for 3 exits prior.

I checked the weather on my Flex, where Sirius expired two months ago. Travel link was still active, but audio was not. Not complainin, justasayin.

There are 3 components of the Sirius subscription - 1) Music (various packages - which I kept after trial, I think was about $8.95/month for package we got since we have multi cars); 2) Travelink traffic (which I kept after trial, I think was about $2.95/month) 3) Travelink services weather/movies/sports (which I did not keep after trial, I think is about $3.95/month)

 

Wife's subscription expires in a couple months, will keep the music and Travelink services, but not the traffic... so those considering whether to keep it surf around their site for the details, and they do tend to sweeten offers a lot, which is also noted in other threads here.
