Went to our Cookeville campus yesterday which takes me over a ridge and got some pretty good (definitely better than pre-update) highway numbers. Both ways I had the ECO cruise set to 70 mph. I forgot to take a pic when I got there but I was right at 41 mpg and below you see the number when I got back!!! :shift: Here is another pic from another drive I made where approx 75 percent was 65-70... I have well over 300 miles on this tank and the tank average is right at 45 mpg :happy feet: (highest I have ever had for a tank average!) with a good portion of that running interstate speeds. I definitely believe that 70 is the sweet spot for good mpg on the highway. I can go 75 and it will drop about 4-5 mpg. The update has most definitely helped me gain approx 5 mpg highway and even more than that city. The drive to our Cookeville campus would never yield me better than 38-39 before I had the update done regardless of my speed. Had to fill up today and I had my best tank average ever and it included lots of highway miles. You know I have been rolling since it has only been 5 days today since my last fill-up and I have gone 504 miles. If I didn't have to drive so much interstate I would easily be getting numbers like the hybrid gurus we have on here (you know who you are hahaha) but either way I am very pleased with how the update has improved my mpg! My around town drives range anywhere from 50 to 60 mpg :worship: :shift: . Here is the trip 1 reading. Here is the trip 2 reading which was reset after the update when I picked the car up on 9/8. As you can tell I am a driver :peelout: lol.... Maybe I should apply to VW they always say "Drivers Wanted" hahaha... Now here is the Fuelly for this fill-up which I did 3 clicks before stopping. My overall Fuelly average would be much better had I not had that bad 31.9 mpg tank but that's ok! I love :wub: this car hahaha!!! acdii Report post Posted September 30, 2013 I haven't posted in a while, since most trips are pretty much he same, right around 47 MPG. However, today it was 40*, Heated seats were on, HVAC was on set to 72*, and I was doing 60+ most of the trip. corncobs Report post Posted September 30, 2013 After skipping the influence of the warm up stage I got a really decent result. ;-) I had to stop at the gas station this morning and those 1.9 miles returned 28 MPG with heat and defrost going. Trip there took six hours, with the speed most of time between 71-75 mph. Elevation varied from 700ft-4,300ft, temperature 75-94 degrees. Average was 43.4 mpg. Horrible traffic on the way back last night stretched the return time to almost nine hours. For the 847 mile round trip, I had a 43.2 mpg average, and my lifetime went from 40.0 to 40.9 mpg. My trip last night ended with a full SOC on the battery, so my commute to work this morning was the best ever: 51.7 mpg. Please give us a "plug-in" FFH at some time in the future! Again, this is with a FFH that had a 37.0 mpg average before the update and that never saw a long distance freeway trip above 38.4 mpg. My FFH saw increased increased MPGs from the moment I drove off the dealer's lot after getting the PCM update. I got the new fuel module at the same time, so that may have been a factor also, along with passing the 10K mile "break-in" period at the same time.One of my passengers on the return trip from Vegas was a twenty-something female (No, she wasn't a showgirl. She was my daughter-in-law's sister) who is accustomed to luxury cars. corncobs Report post Posted October 3, 2013 I had a really happy MPG day today! To work the traffic was really moving nicely I guess a few government workers had to stay home. Driving back home there was some really bad traffic due to some accidents on I-290. This is a combo of no AC, no wind, no traffic, crusin' at 60 mph, and one hell of a nice drive. over 70 miles, about 50 percent Interstate and 50 percent back roads from 55 mph to 35. I was pleased The trip home was 41 so I had an average of about 45. I am not going to complain over that .... acdii Report post Posted October 7, 2013 Cold weather is setting in. Yesterday it was in the 50's, and got 48.5 driving the Schaumburg. This morning, 46* and still managed 45 MPG going to work(and not paying much attention to my driving either). Starting with a cold ICE leaving work Through the city later on to avoid freeway traffic My current tank is tracking at 58 MPG over about 200 miles so far. About half the distance was on two lane 55 mph highway and the other half was interstate at 65 or 70 mph. Drove most of the trip with ACC set at the posted speed limits. acdii Report post Posted October 11, 2013 The discrepancy between what the trip shows and what actually goes into the tank is discouraging. Mine sits at 45 most of the time, but the actual is always nearly 3 MPG lower. Wish there was a way to calibrate the trip fuel usage like you can with a scan gauge. Optimism is nice, but reality sucks. :) either that or gremlins are drinking the stuff over night.
