djminfll Report post Posted July 30, 2013 I loved my trips tonight. I hate Florida weather 10pm and still 86 and humid, my AC never gets turned off and I used remote start on both trips. You're really doing well, especially considering how relatively new you are to driving this car! 2 Aquineas and FusionRose reacted to this
gkinla Report post Posted July 31, 2013 Here's another one of those head scratchers, just driving home again with my son and not really caring about the mileage. This was on Sepulveda at 6:00pm, more intent on traffic than mileage. Terrible brake score due to heavy traffic and stop lights, not many times that stops can be planned. Da0ne Report post Posted July 31, 2013 took a different route to work this morning less traffic lights more constant speed and i also stopped at dunkin for the early morning fix

hybridbear Report post Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) I haven't posted here in awhile, been busy but still getting great mileage lol Here are some of the best pics. The current tank is averaging over 55 MPG after 450 miles and still 150+ showing on the DTE. I had an average over 60 MPG for a couple of days from when I had last reset the MPG on the Empower, etc screens Highway trip, very surprised at how high with the highway driving Since we came back from our Canada trip, reset now for the next 1000 mile challenge Coming home from the train museum last Saturday, I forgot to take a pic when I arrived but that trip was also over 60 MPG To St Paul on Sunday Coming home Sunday, this is a personal best I think over such a long distance From Tuesday Edited July 31, 2013 by hybridbear 6 rjent, corncobs, jeff_h and 3 others reacted to this

Sleddog Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I got 50.9 this morning going in to work with no A/C, and 48.9 coming home with the A/C blasting as cold as I could get it. Not too bad. I'm not sure if the update helped any. But my numbers are up since I got it.
jeapa Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I got some great numbers today. This is my morning commute, temp about mid 70's, pretty flat, 80/20 expressway/ 2 lane. I set the cruise to 67mph when on the exp. I forgot to reset the trip when I left work so this is my combined commute same conditions except temp was in the 80's so I had the ac set on 74 fan low. Not bad at all for my 3rd day with the car. 2 hybridbear and rjent reacted to this

jeapa Report post Posted August 1, 2013 HAHA HB is giving the PPP(Still cant say it) A run for its money! It is winning so far. To be fair I am driving 10 mph slower on the expressway, but in this car I don't mind cause the ride is nice!! As an added benefit I no longer need to watch out for the speed traps. 5 acdii, corncobs, keybman and 2 others reacted to this

I looked but I only found the post that you made an appointment. And since its the Happy MPG thread I filled up this morning > First click at 10.95 gal which dropped the calculated average to 49.5 MPG and that's without the update ;-) 4 acdii, hybridbear, keybman and 1 other reacted to this
Da0ne Report post Posted August 1, 2013 Did you get the update already? I looked but I only found the post that you made an appointment. yea i got it Monday morning i had heard a weird rattle coming from the left axle of course they didnt find anything and when they ran the VIN they say the software update and applied it i did see a better mpg since last week i saw 46 mpg in my 19 mile drivenow its 50 mpg and above so i guess ford did what they promise 3 corncobs, acdii and hybridbear reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted August 1, 2013 and to think he hasnt done the update yet.....Jeff_h did you do the update yet cause i know you have posted similar numbers as HB I will be at dealer at 7am tomorrow morning getting the update -- however yesterday's PM commute was 55.1 and this morning's was 54.6 so it's pretty darn good as it is. Will take a test drive once the update is done and post initial results. 2 Da0ne and hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted August 1, 2013 Oh now I cant wait to get my Flex back so I can get the update too! It would be so nice to actually be able to use the AC without it killing the MPG. Thinking back to the SE, I believe part of the issue was the AC compressor, that thing was always running when the heater was on, I remember seeing climate draw all the time and figured it was the blower, but I know different now. hybridbear Report post Posted August 1, 2013 HB i think you have been testing the update for Ford on the low Hahaha actually I'm still a little apprehensive about the update because we're getting such good mileage now. However, if you look at our Fuelly you'll see that in the winter we struggled to get 40 MPG so my hope for the update is that it will improve our winter MPGs without hurting the summer MPGs. HAHA HB is giving the PPP(Still cant say it) A run for its money! :hysterical: Speaking of that car...I really want to test drive one now with the route I know does so well in the FFH and see if I can max out the Prius display at 99.9. I'm thinking though that the underpowered Prius will not do as well because to accelerate at the same moderate pace I accelerate in the Fusion I'll have to really floor the Prius. When I did a cold weather comparison I found that the Prius did worse than the FFH because of this. I wonder if I would still have the same result today. It is winning so far. To be fair I am driving 10 mph slower on the expressway, but in this car I don't mind cause the ride is nice!! As an added benefit I no longer need to watch out for the speed traps.Me too! I used to drive 5-9 MPH over the speed limit and always be a little wary of speed traps. Now I stick to the speed limit or maybe a mile or 2 over in the city and drive past cops all the time without it raising my heartbeat or blood pressure at all :shift:  1 corncobs reacted to this

You could never ever get me back into one of those, not even for a short drive. A TCH, I wouldn't mind driving, they really improved them, but the PPP(still cant say it) just gives me nightmares. I had briefly, very briefly, giving it a consideration, until the door was opened and I saw the interior, and I closed the door and walked away. 1 corncobs reacted to this
jsolan Report post Posted August 1, 2013 I've posted pics before of my commute home from work before. The past 2 weeks it's been cool around here so I've not used the A/C and consistently been getting 70-72 mpg on my 15 mile commute home. I'm at 4200 miles now and while I never saw bad mileage, I am starting to see a slight improvement. I do wish I could improve the uphill commute to work a bit more (37-38), but round trip is consistently 48-50 so I can't complain. 1 FusionRose reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted August 1, 2013 Today's stats.... 53.9 going in, 53.6 coming home. The trip is 28 miles each way. I ran the A/C coming home. I've also started using the Empower display. It gives me better idea were car changes over to the ICE. I tend to try and accelerate normally with traffic keeping the kW load under the top of the second segment. That gives me a good rate of acceleration. 1 jeff_h reacted to this

jeapa Report post Posted August 2, 2013 Those are great numbers Fusion Rose. The best trip I have gotten has been 50 mpg, but I haven't had a chance to drive mine anywhere but to work. I am looking forward to getting some >50 mpg this weekend driving around town.
